You don’t need to reinvent the wheel, apply for a patent or own your own factory in order to have your own high value product. In fact, you don’t need to sell anything tangible at all.

Some of the wealthiest and most successful business people online made their fortunes selling nothing more than information.

An information product can come in many formats: electronic book, membership site, software, subscription newsletter or even video. The most important thing about information products is that they can be delivered digitally.

This means that your product is packaged as a file which customers download right to their desktop. Your inventory is ‘virtual’ and there is nothing to ship. The customer receives immediate gratification and your hands are free of the dirty detail work of delivery, allowing you more time to focus on marketing your business.

Does information really sell online? If so, what types of information can you sell?

Let’s tackle the first question. There is absolutely no doubt that information sells! The majority of people who come online do so in order to seek out information. Your job is to put yourself in front of them with the information and the solutions they seek. Don’t think for a second that just because a lot information is available for free online that people won’t pay to access an information product.

The average consumer puts a premium on his time. He will pay for your product if he thinks you have the answers he needs. In terms of demand, information products aren’t much different from traditional, physical books.

There are plenty of books available for free at the public library (and plenty of books to be browsed through down at Barnes and Noble) but this hasn’t stopped Amazon.Com from becoming one of the number one retailers on the web.

FTP = File Transport Protocol i.e. It’s the path of transporting your internet files up to a web server so they can become accessible online. (Some call this live online)

FTP Program Setup Up and Usage

Note: Your FTP program may be a little different than how I explain to use FTP here in my tutorial. However, most features are similar and you should be able to figure out the varying degrees of use no matter which FTP software you are using.

If you want a free FTP program that functions like paid ones, get File Zilla at this link. File Zilla is the program I use to describe how to FTP in this tutorial. Get it here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla I like File Zilla’s drag & drop features that function just like the ones you have to pay for – but it’s FREE! Once you place your mouse on a file icon (and while holding down the left mouse pointer) you can drag files and wherever you drop them… it makes a copy and or overwrites files.

Note: Overwriting files updates them if the file name and place on the server is exactly the same. Overwriting is how you update previous files or webpages.

Many people seem perplexed by the process of how to FTP. So, I wrote this quick & easy guide to help anyone that wants to learn how to do it - get started. It’s not hard at all. Ok… let’s start learning how to FTP right now…

1. Open up your FTP program.
Go to:
2. File
3. Site MGR.
4. Click the New Site Button
5. Click rename button and rename your site.
6. In the host window put your website URL in without the https://www. e.g. mysite.com
Note: Keep server type set at the default FTP setting.
7. Login type - select normal ( notice the username & password windows become active)
8. Put in your username & password. This is info you should have received from your host server company.
(Do not check the box “Don’t save password” if you have one) Note: Before clicking the Connect button make sure you have navigated to you local web files through your FTP program. For details on how to do this see the info below on local website files.
9. After navigating to your local web files click the Connect button.
Note: Sometimes you must drag the perimeters of the FTP windows down to see the server activity or it may appear that nothing is happening when it actually is.
10. Click Save and exit to Save your FTP site settings.

I was in two minds as to whether include this section and it is the reason I have put it here rather than what might have been a better structure to include it earlier. It is here because I don’t see it as being as important as the other contents of this report up until now. Some people find this kind of stuff helpful and some people don’t. Personally I use it some times and not all the time. For writing short articles I don’t see the need for preparation exercises and all that malarkey but for more serious content like ebook chapters or reports it may benefit you to be in the most creative state of mind possible. Also this report is about speed and this stuff takes time. It is up to you to decide whether or not this aspect of the writing process is beneficial to you. What I will offer here are some things that can help prepare your mind for creative work and make the cranking out of your articles even faster.

Read stuff: It may sound stupid but before I write I will quite often just read something for a few minutes. The higher quality the writing the better but it gets my mind into the mode of synthesizing words and processing writing. It should only need to be done once before each session but it will start your engine running with more momentum.

Write stuff: Personally I don’t need to do this but many people find it helpful to write something else before they begin writing work. Whether its an email, a shopping list or a post in the forum it turns your brain on to the mode of putting its thoughts onto paper. Again only needs to be done once before each writing session but might provide great benefits.

Specific exercises: I train martial arts so I often find that performing some movements of that nature prior to creative work can stimulate a greater level of connection between right and left brain halves and create a more creative state. Other ways to do this are through meditation (nothing fancy, just focusing on your breath and calming your mind), other breathing exercises, and other movements. I won’t go into them here but there are certain movements that you can do that coordinate your breath and your body in a way that enhances right and left brain connectivity. Hit up Google if you want to know more about that aspect of writing as it is slightly outside the scope of this article.

The next point I will mention however is EXTREMELY important and I do it before every article. What I do is put myself in a state where I know that I will be able to crank out a 400-600 word article on this topic despite the fact that I know nothing about it and that I don’t know yet what I’m going to write. There are various ways to put yourself in this state but my main ones are to focus on what it will be like when I have completed the article and think about other times when I have done something similar. Then I just begin thinking with complete certainty that I will be able to finish this article very quickly.

What I also do is actually begin writing before I know exactly what is going to come next. I start writing in the state I mentioned above. I have the structure in my head but I just start writing giving no recognition to the fact that I might get stuck and remain totally faithful that if I keep writing, the appropriate words, sentences and paragraphs will come to me. Some people know what I’m talking about and some people think it is phooey but I strongly believe that when you hold thoughts in your head that are doubts as to whether you can do something you physically prohibit your brain from accessing the parts of itself that will make the action in question possible. If you keep your mind open and have faith that you can do something you allow your brain to find the resources to make it happen. Your mind is an untapped source of ultimate potential: Don’t underestimate it!

Finally is another point that some people adopt and find beneficial and some people don’t. Some people say to keep writing once you start and not stop. What you can do is do your research, then with those points in mind just start writing and keep going. What happens is you will get out a lot of information quickly but it will be unstructured and you will have to later structure it and rearrange it to make sense. If you are writing articles this may be beneficial and if you get out a whole article quickly by doing this, by all means go ahead. Trouble is, it’s harder said than done and that’s why I believe its easier to embrace the inevitable pauses in your writing and continually refer to my structure so you always know what to write next as soon as you pause.

In concluding this section, I find the non stop writing idea more valuable when I know about the topic of the article before hand but when it’s a niche article on a subject I’m not familiar with this method doesn’t really help me. Again make the decision for yourself because its all about what makes things faster for YOU.

If you are targeting a niche market, chances are there are e-zines or internet based newsletters that you can advertise in. The best way to do this is search Google or Yahoo and call people to talk with them personally. In some cases, these newsletters may not offer advertising, but if you contact them via the telephone, you may be able to strike a deal to get your site some exposure.

I have an online newsletter that I advertise in for my cake site for only $35 per month. This newsletter has about 40,000 subscribers. The first time I ran my ad, I got over 500 people sign up for my newsletter and I made over 60 sales at $29 per sale. If you ask me, it works.

Use Unique Business Cards To Promote Your Site!

For most people who operate businesses on the internet, business cards are not apart of their marketing efforts. They understand that most businesses have them. However, because they operate a web-site on the internet, they figure people offline are not interested.

This is one BIG mistake internet marketers make!

It’s sad and unfortunate, but that’s they way internet marketers feel about this powerful marketing tool. I even did a private poll by asking 25 other people who run internet businesses, and none of them had a business card.

Your business card can explode your internet business if you use them the right way.

Once you realize that your business card is a powerful marketing tool, instead of an easy way to give someone your name, address, company name, and phone number, you can execute strategies to ignite your business. Then... you’ll be light years ahead of your competition.

In the next few pages, you’ll learn how to use our unique business card more effectively and how to get people to remember your business using this low cost marketing tool.

On the following page, you’ll see the business card I use on a daily basis, which is unlike any other business card you’ve ever seen. It’s unique, and most importantly, it gets people to call and check out my website every single day.

Whatever you decide to use as your ultimate business idea, it must be something that inspires passion in you. You need to love what you’re doing to keep going.

So, what is it you really love to do? What gets you up in the morning? If you’re someone who would hold off a meeting with St. Peter at the Pearly Gates to just finish that last scrap-booking page that’s probably a good place for you to start. If you love the idea of a perfect golf game, look there. If walking in the woods is something you need to stay sane, look for business ideas in that area. The key is that it must be something that you absolutely love to do.

Sit down and write up a list of everything you love to do, or would love to find out more about. Write as many things down as you possibly can. Once you have a bunch of ideas, begin to see business ideas in those different headings. For example, scrap booking. Here you have the supplies, the know-how, the time, the place, etc. These ideas can lead to different business ideas like: scrap booking supplies, manuals and reports on how to set up a page, different techniques, etc., tools and ideas for organizing your time and space to be able to scrapbook more efficiently etc. Each one of those sub-areas could be a business idea.

Now look online to see what others are doing. Is there a hole somewhere that you could fill? Can you find an already-made product that could be promoted to the people who are experiencing this “hole”?

Another way to find a great niche to market is to join several forums on your topic of choice, and poke around to see what creates the most frustration. Can you solve that problem? Maybe you need to write an e-book (not as hard as it sounds, I promise!), find a supplier, or create a product. Whatever it is, take the time to research your market and find a place that is needed but not overcrowded.

Also, look for something that can be more computer-generated than a physical product unless you can find a company that is already set up to handle orders from you and drop-ship those orders to your customer. That way you’re bound to have success with little hassle. Most MLM companies today fill this last requirement if you’re interested.

Xbox DVD repair

Since this is one of the most commonly asked questions in my mailbox that is already overflowing lets see if I can make things a bit more clear.

If your Xbox is freezing during games or returning the dreaded Dirty Disc Error you have a DVD drive problem.

You may notice that some of your games play fine while others do not. This is usually because some games are on DVD media and some are on CD media. CD's are single layer media while DVD's are multi layer media. This means it is easier to read a CD than it is to read a DVD. The concept of a DVD is to have several semi transparent layers of data. It is sort of like taking a few CD's stacking them together and smooshing them into a single disc. To read the 2-4 layers of data you must ignore the previous layers and pay attention to ones deeper in the disc. Obviously this is a more complex task and more subject to read errors. My description is not entirely accurate to keep the concepts easy to understand (if anyone would like to reference a technical explanation send me a link)

For instance the double disk of Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT 2003 is a CD while Munch's Oddysee/Halo is on a DVD. Most often you will notice the bottom of the media is one of two colours, gold DVD's and Silver CD's. It is not 100% that gold=DVD and silver=CD so if you find this rule of thumb to not be true in every case... that's life.

Steps to take in order to resolve Dirty Disk Errors-

1. Use a standard CD/DVD Cleaner, they look like a normal CD but with two miniature brushes on them. This will only clean the lens. Sometimes this is all you need to be up and running.

*****DO NOT BLOW CANNED AIR INTO THE DRIVE WITHOUT OPENING IT******

This will almost certainly make things worse, you just assure that the dust will be redistributed evenly inside the drive and this includes a coating on the optics you are trying to clean.

2. Clean the lens and mirror manually Tutorial

3. Adjust the Potentiometer (pot) on the laser. Tutorial (last resort)

4. If none of the above three revive your drive you can rest assured you have tried it all... Get a new drive, they do go dead and its probably not your fault or the fault of your younger sibling-relative-friend that was messing with your xbox without your permission (yes I hear that a lot). Replacement Xbox DVD Drives

If you know you have a DVD problem because the drive will not open or close, stay opened or closed or makes grinding and popping noises... The number one quick fix for the DVD drive is to re-align the tray. This is common with CD players, CD changers as well. Many times just from normal use a gear will skip or something will jump track, unless all the pieces are in the right place at the time it powers up it will not work. So by removing the tray, aligning the internal parts to their starting position and re-inserting the tray you can often bring a drive back from the dead Thompson DVD Drive Tray Alignment Procedure

USB Port Installation

Adding standard USB ports for use with Linux

Xbox peripherals are connected using standard USB, albeit with non-standard connectors. There are a number of articles about splicing Xbox and USB cables but it is also possible to replace the connector in the Xbox itself: Opening the case is assumed knowledge as you'll almost certainly need to run unsigned code to take advantage of the USB port, and you won't be running unsigned code without opening it up. Yet.

I used standard USB connectors retrieved from a PC. They're the types that screw into a PCI plate.

When choosing a port, be wary of the effect of missing ports if you intend to continue to use the Xbox for multi-player games. In my case the Xbox will never play an Xbox game so I don't care, and have removed ports 3 and 4. Remove the two screws and cables, and carefully remove the plastic bridge to which the ports are attached using pliers. It's a fairly tight fit. Finally, solder the black, green, white and red cables together, ignoring the yellow which is an extra (non USB) cable used for time critical signalling. Ensure that these joins are well insulated, both from each other and from other metallic parts.

You will need to trim the tabs off the USB connector and maybe enough of the sides for it to fit tightly. I inserted it first at an angle:

Push it down into place, being careful not to slip and damage the motherboard. Mine was a tight enough fit that I didn't need any glue, but depending on the tolerance, type of plastic and size of connector you may do well to apply some Araldite or equivalent to hold it in place, or modify the removed port block to re-use the black plastic bridge. Be careful when chopping this down to size also, you don't want it to snap in the middle.

Using a PC DVD drive

Remove the power cable from the Xbox drive and attach a power cable splitter (can get from most pc stores) and plug both drives in. Sit your PC drive on top of the Xbox drive. Then remove the IDE cable from the Xbox drive and insert it into the PC drive.

You can't actually replace the drive as the Xbox still needs to access it via the yellow cable. Also if you want to play originals you'll have to plug the Xbox drive back in.

There are then 2 methods to boot - put a disc in the pc drive and reset or if that doesn't work put an original in the xbox drive and your backup in the pc drive.

If you have been reading my previous articles then you’re probably aware that I believe that an email list is one of the most valuable tools you can have at your disposal when selling digital products online. In fact, the majority of texts that cover selling online will agree with this point. Therefore, I’ve decided to base my next few articles on the subject of building an email list.

Now before you start building an email list there are a number of things you need to consider. Some of these are points that I personally considered before starting my email list. Others are factors I just wish I had considered before starting my email list. However, now that I have the benefit of hindsight I’ve collated a list of top tips to consider before starting your own email list.

Type of Autoresponder:- Before you start building an email list you need an autoresponder program to store all your email addresses. There are two types of autoresponder; Self Hosted (you host the autoresponder software yourself) and Third Party (you pay a monthly subscription fee to a company who will take care of your autoresponder for you). Now I’m no expert on the subject but I have read that although Self Hosted solutions are cheaper (once you have purchased the software that’s all you have to pay), people often run into problems somewhere down the line. These problems include emails going straight into customers SPAM folders, emails not being delivered etc.

Although a Third Party solution is an ongoing expense, I feel this expense is justified. Third Party autoresponders usually provide very reliable email delivery rates, keep backups of your customer email lists and most importantly keep up to date with all the related legislation. If a new piece of legislation is introduced which you are unaware of and you are using a Self Hosted autoresponder you could potentially violate this legislation, landing yourself in very hot water. With a Third Party autoresponder, issues such as this are their responsibility and not yours. I personally use and recommend the third party autoresponder Aweber.

Number of Lists:- When I started The Ebook Cavern Newsletter I simply had all leads from all my websites subscribe to the same list. However, then I began to think that people who subscribe to my list after reading one of my reviews may not be be interested in the same topics as subscribers who came from my eBay About Me page. Therefore, I sat down, considered the different interests of my customers and then created different specific lists to match their interests e.g. an eBay list, a reviews list etc. Now when a lead subscribes they are added to a specific list depending on the website they subscribed from e.g. leads from my eBay About Me Page are subscribed to my eBay list. Every subscriber is also added to a main list.

By doing this I am now better equipped to cater to my customer needs. I can offer eBay leads free ebooks with resell rights and eBay offers, whilst offering leads from my reviews website free product reviews. If I want to communicate with all my subscribers then I have the option to do this by sending an email to my main list. Although you don’t need to consider the number of the lists from the start I find it certainly helps. If you organise your lists in this way from the beginning you have a very good idea of what you’re different customer segments want and you can focus your marketing efforts accordingly.

Communication with your List:- Once you have decided upon your autoresponder program and the number of lists you will be operating, you need to consider how you will be communicating with your leads. Are you going to send out a regular email newsletter? Are you going to send out a combination of free ebooks and promotional offers? Are you simply going to offer product discounts to your list? These are important questions which you need to consider and then make a final decision. My personal opinion is that a regular newsletter is the best way to keep subscribers up to date with what’s going on. In between each newsletter I send out offers which I believe would be of interest to my list. However, this is a very subjective topic and the final decision is down to you.

Incentive to Join:- In most cases you need to offer subscribers to your email list an incentive to join. This can include; a free digital product, a free newsletter or product discounts. It is wise to consider the incentive before you start your email list so that it is relevant. You don’t want to offer a free ebook on gardening if you are building a list in the health and fitness niche. Similarly, product discounts may only be a good incentive in certain niches. You therefore need to think carefully about the best incentive to fit your niche. I personally believe the best incentive is a unique product (such as an ebook) that you have personally created. Offering a unique, self created product to your leads provides you with a great opportunity to demonstrate your expertise. If it’s a good quality product your leads will trust you and be more willing to buy from you. Furthermore, if subscribers pass on this unique product to other people it can act as a valuable promotional tool for you.

Blogging in the twenty first century has come to become an important tool for advertising for people who wish to market their products online, for politicians who wish to sell their ideologies, and reach out, to the masses.

Moreover, creating a blog and maintaining it does not require a fortune. Everybody now has a personal blog and it is all free of cost. Also, one does not need to be a computer engineer or a graphic or web designer in order to embellish their blog.

Unlike a website which operates on a different domain, and for which every single template and tab needs to be designed and created from the scratch, blog sites do not need such knowledge. The blogging service providers have their own inbuilt templates and fonts which have to be chosen by the bloggers as per their own tastes and preferences.

Blogging is an ideal way to make new friends and come in contact with more people than you can do in the actual word, from all quarters of the world. Such diverse people will obviously have differing viewpoints. Therefore, this gives scope for a good deal of discussion and debate with all points of view being taken on board.

Blogs can also be for the sole purpose of making new friends and socializing. That is why social networking sites have picked up the clue and in these times social networking and blogging has, to some extent, been combined, and almost become indistinguishable.

It would be interesting to note that the word ‘blog’ is both a noun and a verb. This leads us to the fact that blogging in some sense also helps get rid of hassles of publishing. Though your work will not come out in print, you know that you can publish your work – your articles, pictures, videos, etc – yourself through you blog.

Therefore, it may be your own personal journal that you wish others to read or you works of art in terms of the stories or articles that you write, or the movies that you make. You can share almost any content with the world at large.

It must also be noted that just like you do not have to be a web designer to create your own blog, you need not be a professional writer, a film maker or a photographer to publish content on your blog. It is just a space for you to indulge in your own small artistic pursuits and share those moments with others. Blogging must therefore be exploited to its full potential.
