Press releases are another overlooked but very powerful traffic tool.

A PR release works a lot like a syndicated article, but the distribution channels may be different. PR releases tend to rank well in Google. They are also frequently picked up as content sources for RSS feeds.

Writing Your Press Release

Writing a press release is different from writing an article.

Your focus is on announcing your business, its objectives and the benefits you provide to consumers. You’ll want to pay extra attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation.

The standards for press releases are stricter than in other environments. Your copy should be short: about 300-400 words and written in a clear, professional and journalistic style.

If you need assistance, considering hiring someone to write the release for you. You might also want to contact the editorial department of the site you’re submitting to because they’ll often help you edit your release until it meets their standards.

Some PR sites will do this for free, but most charge a small fee for the service. This shouldn’t dissuade you, though. Any time you pay for editing, you’ll get a release which qualifies for distribution to major portals such as Yahoo! News.

Write as you speak. Since email is a very personal medium, you’ll want to write as you talk. People relate better to others whom they feel a connection with. Perhaps even add in some elements of your personal life once in a while so your subscribers will know you better.

Create a really good subject line. Your subject line is the first thing your recipient will see. It should be benefit-laden and tell the reader what is in it for him or her. It’s good to ask yourself before you send out your email: is your email easy to read? Also, try to make your email a short one. If it’s too long, most people won’t be bothered to read it.

Always have a call-to-action. If you are promoting a product, you’d want your reader to click through to your link to buy. So make sure you place in a strong call-to-action. In some instances, your email can act like a sales letter, with all the traditional sale letter techniques, including a call-to-action.

Strength training is anaerobic exercise. Or exercise done in short, intense bursts that works your body without requiring much oxygen. How often do I need to strength train?

According to the American Council on Exercise, 2-3 times a week is plenty. But for those we need to lose a significant amount of weight or those who desire BIG results a bit more quickly…3-4 may necessary. Consult with a certified trainer to start off slowly and to find out how to develop the right routine for you and your goals.

How much weight and how many reps should I do?

I recommend you start your lifting routine with 12-15 reps per set. There are many techniques that incorporate heavier weights at lower reps but stick to the basics right now. Start with a low weight that you know you can lift. Continue increasing the weight until you reach a weight that makes you feel fatigued after 10-12 reps. Keep a lifting log and chart your progress. As you get stronger you will need to increase your weight. Always be asking your self “did I feel the burn on those last few reps?” If not, increase your weight.

I’ve underscored the words that make this pitch specific: color, type of flower, and appealing to the senses…in this case, the eyes and the nose. And I’ve twice underlined one of the most meaningful specifics of all: non-round numbers.

I’ve Got Your Number You know what it means to round up and round down. Well, that’s where a round number comes from. 17 rounds up to 20, 42 rounds down to 40, etc.

Rounding up and down may be okay for tax returns, but round numbers can doom your online marketing efforts. Studies have shown that people rated copy as more believable when the numbers used were “non-round.”

But making it in most of these businesses takes time and effort …. Sometimes a LOT of time. The upside is that the skills can be learned, and the business models themselves are very attractively leveraged. There is a ton of good information available, which I won’t repeat here. Second, home-based businesses are about people and personal development. Products are secondary. They’re important, but a business that is built on product quality and neglects networking, people skills, and personal development has a very good chance of crashing. There remains a huge number of people who start home-based businesses and fail, while others who offer the same products from the same company with the same compensation plan are extremely successful.

This isn’t hard to figure out: In the first case, attitude, lack of people skills (and possibly lack of business skills such as cash control) caused failure. Quite possibly, the “entrepreneur” still had an employee mindset. In the second case, there was growth, integrity, and a sincere desire to serve. Think of the people you know who are involved in home-based businesses. Some you would like to do business with, and some you wouldn’t.

I believe that everyone should start a home-based business because the enterprise itself makes people into better people. It makes parents into better parents. It breaks the employee/slavery/someone-will-take-care-of-me, “victim” mindset and replaces it with confidence an d independence. I honestly believe it’s the best thing for people, and the best thing for the country.

There are probably a thousand different opportunities out there, with new ones appearing literally every day. Each has something to offer that will enrich the world. So once you have your “employment” on an even keel, get into a home-based business. Many can be started for less than a hundred bucks (and if a hundred bucks is a problem, that should tell you that what you’re doing isn’t working). We’re not talking franchises that may cost a hundred thousand, but an opportunity that literally anyone can afford. Live on purpose! Don’t let your life just be something that happened to you. Make a difference. Since you design your own life anyway, make it a masterpiece.

1 cup bran
1 1/2 cups whole meal flour
1/2 cup olive oil -- sunflower or SoyaOlive is great for their coat
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup oatmeal
1 egg

1 teaspoon brewers yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt or kelp
1/2 cup coconut
1 comfrey leaf -- finely chopped. -- (can add parsley etc.)

Mix everything together and form balls (or shapes!) with your hands. Place on baking tray and flatten with a fork. Bake slowly at 150 degrees C until hard - about 40 - 45 minutes. I double the recipe and it makes heaps - about 2 trays.
