If the value of a mailing list is gold, publishing a newsletter would have to fall into the platinum category.

Naturally, you can keep in touch with your mailing list members without a newsletter, but why pass up the opportunity to gain their respect and trust on a regular basis.

If you merely contact your list members on a random basis, you risk the possibility that they’ll forget who you are. Or even worse, what your product or business is all about.

With a newsletter, you have the perfect opportunity to step into the privacy of their homes on any given day of any given week or month. You decide. And once you do -and you arrive at their inbox -you have their undivided attention.

At least, that’s what you’re hoping for. Their undivided attention.

The first thing you have to do, of course, is develop a newsletter that your readers will be hungry to devour, from top to bottom.

In all honesty, that’s not an easy task. Especially when you consider how many emails the average viewer receives on a daily basis. Competing with tons of junk mail, carefully drafted solo ads by other marketers, and dozens of newsletters that have already been subscribed to can give anyone reason to pause.

In many cases, those types of obstacles have prompted webmasters to not only think twice about having their own newsletter but caused them to decide not to publish one at all. Ever.

But when you calculate the enormous benefit of publishing a newsletter, it’s something that needs to be taken quite seriously. After all, a good deal of revenue is at stake.

•The more people you can contact on a regular basis, the more income you’ll generate.

•The more information and advice you can provide, the more income you’ll generate.

•The more respect and trust you establish between you and your subscribers, the more income you’ll generate.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is how much time and effort is involved in publishing a newsletter. All kidding aside, it’s a lot of work. And you need to be prepared to handle that volume of work before you send out your first issue.

As long as you enter into this decision with your eyes wide open -and with a totally realistic attitude -you can easily manage the burden (or reward, depending onhow you look at things) of a scheduled publication.

Unless you have nothing else to do (which is highly unlikely), don’t choose to send your newsletter every week. Instead, start with one that goes out every other week or possibly once a month.

That way, you’ll have an opportunity to ease into things, get a feel for what you can do in the time that’s available between issues. Then, if everything goes well and you decide to publish more frequently, you can do so without difficulty.

What helps the most ishaving content ready long before your start sending out the newsletter. That gives you a cache of articles, information, and features that can be quickly and easily inserted.
Or, if you don’t include any features that require current dated information, you can create entire issues ahead of time (say three or four months in advance). You can even stockpile content that relates to different areas of your newsletter, like how-to tips, resources, and articles.

If your features do happen to rely on current information -such as reviews of products that have just been released -you can create the majority of the issues ahead of time and then add the final touches just prior to publication.

Either way, it cuts down the amount of pressure you would feel if you had to write everything from scratch within the small time frame that exists from one newsletter issue to the next.

As far as the focus of your newsletter is concerned, only you can decide. Depending on what type of business you’re promoting and the customer audience you‘ll be reaching, you could base your content on tips and advice, in depth topic-related information, or simply a “joke of the week” concept.

You can publish in text, HTML, or online format. Or a combination of all three. But regardless of how or when you publish, you need to make certain you follow the most important success factor…
Above all else, your newsletter must provide interesting and valuable content.

If not, your readership and financial gain will be minimal, or worse, non-existent. If, on the other hand, you can secure the undivided attention of your subscribers, your newsletter (and subsequently your business) will be a resounding success.

Your Pinterest account gives you virtual “pin boards” where you can “Pin” anything you find interesting on the web. From home designs to favorite recipes to tips for throwing a great baby shower, it’s all on Pinterest.

Not only can you pin your favorite things you find on the web, but you can also browse what other people are pinning. You can follow your favorite Pinners and re-pin anything they like that also interests you.
When you pin an image on Pinterest, it creates a clickable link to the website where the image is located. So if someone pins a photo on your blog or website, every time another Pinterest user clicks it, you get free traffic.

By making sure people pin images from your website on Pinterest on a regular basis, you are guaranteeing a steady stream of traffic for months to come. Pinterest can make an ordinary image go viral in a matter of hours!

As you can see, I have pin boards for a variety of topics that interest me. Many pinners maintain DOZENS of boards with a variety of interests including business, books, movies and art (just to name a few). No matter what niche you are in, there are undoubtedly pin boards to support it.

Now, here’s the trick. You don't have to maintain a Pinterest account under your actual name. In fact, it would be wise to create boards under a pen name that is relevant to your niche.

As you begin to pin your own website information and other relevant resources, people will follow you. Then each time you pin something new, it is broadcast to everyone you follow on their homepage when they login to Pinterest.

Your pin will also be visible in the “Everything” section

under the category of the board you pin it to. Everyone can see these pins, so even those who don’t follow you will be able to spot them here. The only catch is that you will only get a few seconds of exposure before new pins will appear and push yours out of view.

Now the true secret to making Pinterest work for you is to get people to repin the items you are pinning. Basically, you want people to notice what you’re pinning and then click the “repin” option to add it to their boards as well.

Repinning an item is easy. As your mouse hovers over the image, an option appears that allows you to repin it, like it, or post a comment. When you click “repin”, it opens a small window allowing you to select which one of your boards you want to pin the image to. Simple, right?

Then their followers are exposed to it, it appears on the “Everything” board again, and more people repin it. As you can see, it’s a cycle that pushes your content further than any other marketing campaign ever has.

The best part is that it requires very little work on your part. In fact, using Pinterest is a lot of fun!

It’s obvious that Pinterest is a great resource and you need to add it to your arsenal to increase your traffic. So how can you get started?

Step 1 – Apply and Comply

Having a website can generate revenue for you twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Google AdSense is a free program that has an advertising revenue especially designed to help websites like yours to increase their revenue simply by displaying AdWords ads. You can apply online at:

Apply to Google to have your website reviewed. Each page on your website must be content rich on various topics. These pages should all be centered around a theme which Google will use to target relevant ads to your website.

Once you have applied, Google will require you to reply to an email to confirm that you have actually applied. In about 2 –3 days, Google will inform you of the review of your website and whether or not it has been accepted or rejected.

Google will set up an account for you and provide you with the HTML code you need for displaying ads. Insert the HTML code into the pages on your websites and you can start displaying ads immediately.
Google search and page-ranking technology will search for ads that are relevant to your content pages. This technology matches the primary language of your pages and ads are targeted to your specific geographic location. This means that ads that serve users from Canada, for example, will not be the same ads that appear on your website for users in Australia. This ‘geotargeting’ by Google makes the ads relevant to all the visitors to your website and it also means that you may not see all of the ads that are targeted to your website.

You do not have to be technologically literate to display AdSense ads on your web pages. Google does it all for you. All you have to do is insert the HTML code and maintain the website.

It may take a few hours before the ads do appear on your web pages. At first, you may see public service ads appearing and you do not get paid for these.

If your website is accepted, Google requires you to comply with their program policies:

AdSense accounts cannot be transferred, reassigned or sold in connection with your website.
You can place multiple ads on each page, but these cannot be in common with each other. The content of the page must not obscure the ad and both the ad text and the URL must be visible.
If you are using Alternate Ads, you cannot specify Google as your alternate ads.
AdSense ads cannot be pasted into any software application.
You cannot modify the AdSense ads or serch boxes before pasting them into your web pages.
Affiliate or limited text links are not permitted in areas such as MP3, Video , Newsgroups and Image Results cannot be shown because of copyright laws.
Visitors cannot be required to download a dialler in order to view the content of your website.
You cannot use any incentives to get users to click on any ads.
Ads cannot be used in any unsupported language.
Fraudulent clicks or clicking on your own ads are prohibited.
Your website cannot contain any profanity, prejudicial language, information about hacking, illicit drugs, pornography, gambling or any other material that infringes on the rights of others.
Your website must not contain any broken links and must be easily navigable.
You must respond adequately to requests for support and enquiries made through your website.

The websites that are accepted by Google AdSense must be neat and easy for the user to navigate. All the links must work and the website cannot have any typing mistakes. There should not be an excess of colors and each page should have a consistent layout.

Not enough pages

Google prefers acceptable websites to have at least 20 pages. This allows for a significant number of targeted ads to be placed on the website to ensure that both Google and the publisher will make money.

Site is not solid

A website with nothing but links to other websites is not acceptable as a Google AdSense publishing website. You must have enough original content of your own to make your website unique.
