Introduction

Hello and welcome to our short, no-fluff beginners guide to quick & effective meditation techniques for people on the go.

Let's face it; time is a luxury for most people. In fact, most Americans are so busy that they wish there were more hours in a day. Can you imagine that? You spend a tremendous amount of time at work, and when everything is said and done, it appears that you could have put in more time. That's just how busy we are.

Interestingly enough, as busy as Americans seem to be, their productivity is fairly stagnant. There was a huge burst of productivity in past decades, but by and large, it has plateaued. Still, people work more and more hours nowadays.

It is quite a paradox: people are working more and tiring themselves out, but really not achieving all that much. Still, given how busy we are, it's not a surprise that most of us are stressed out, frustrated and can't find inner calm. No wonder meditation and mindfulness are hot nowadays. Americans are starved for a quick daily mental “hack” that effectively recharges their mental, emotional and physical batteries without taking too much time and effort.

Meditation is the best solution you can find to get the balance you're looking for without having to pop pills or sign up for expensive retreats. Best of all, it only takes a few minutes of your day.

This book teaches you the benefits of meditation, how it works, how to find the time to practice it, as well as three quick and easy, relatively effortless techniques that get your personal meditation practice off on the right foot.

Keep in mind that the techniques outlined in this book are meant strictly to get you going. Once you have mastered and gotten used to them, feel free to modify them to fit your particular set of circumstances. Take complete and total ownership of them, so they reflect your daily needs and priorities.

Make them fit your plan. Still, you should master these techniques, and subsequently pick which one is the most comfortable and convenient to you. You can then take liberty with that technique and to fine-tune it, so it produces better results.

Well that’s a basic overview of what we will cover in the beginner’s guide, in the first chapter we will look at the how, what and why of meditation.

Are you ready? Let’s dive in…

Chapter 1 – Meditation: What, How, and Why?

Meditation is all about actively triggering your mind’s internal relaxation processes. That's all it is.

A lot of people are under the impression that meditation is some sort of quasi-religious, mystical, or even deeply personal philosophical journey into your inner world. Actually, if you were to strip out the fluff, packaging and mass media imagery surrounding meditation, it really all boils down to tapping into an internal mental process that we all already have.

I know that sounds shocking because when people think of meditation, they often think about Buddhist monks high on top of some solitary hill, or some Christian monk hidden away in the stony interior chamber of a monastery somewhere in a distant forest. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Meditation, when stripped down to its essentials is really all about rediscovering the internal processes and mental machinery you already have to achieve a deep state of relaxation. Your mind in fact has existing processes that protect it from overheating and breaking down from the wear and tear of all the data processing it does at any given day.

If you focus on what you think about, and what you choose to perceive in any given second, you'd be surprised as to how much information actually flows through your mind. Some peg this data flow to around ninety thousand to a hundred twenty thousand thoughts. It really varies from person to person, but that's a lot of information, and to think that those are only conscious thoughts. This means there are many other things we perceive that we do not think about. So, given all that data you should be able to understand how much stress and pressure your mind is under.

This is why you have to sleep. The more you sleep, the clearer your mind would be the following day, and the more relaxed you would be. In addition, when you sleep, you recharge your willpower, and you will be able to focus more on whatever you need to do the next day. Sleep, and this internal relaxation process formed your personal relaxation core. This core is required for your mind to stay healthy and remain up to the job.

Gardening is perhaps one of the best hobbies that a more laborious nature lover can take up.

The reason why I choose to call this hobby laborious is because it surely does involve a good deal of physical activity. This hobby is not meant for those nature lovers who simply want to bask in the natural beauty that already exists. Rather it is an ideal pass time for those who want to make their own contribution to the nature.

In order to be successful in gardening one must have the following qualities:

1.) Besides having a love for gardening you should also have the will and determination to pursue your hobby.
2.) You must be physically fit and agile. Laziness and gardening are anonymous to each other.
3.) Learn to exchange your ideas and information with like-minded people who can show an equal passion for gardening.
4.) Try laying your hands on almost any books, magazines or articles that can enhance your knowledge on gardening.
5.) Be prepared to invest a small amount of your earnings in purchasing the “Can’t do without”, gardening tools.

The world of gardening is wide and it has immense possibilities for those who want to explore it with the right zeal and enthusiasm. You can choose from indoor gardening, outdoor gardening, landscaping, cultivating exotic herbs, growing bonsais and thus the list is endless.

However, it is important to do a fair amount of research work before delving into any of the above fields. You should master up the art of choosing the right plants and also learn the techniques favorable for their productivity and growth.

Growing plants is not enough. Deciding where the plants should grow is also an important aspect of gardening. Nothing can be more distasteful than a garden which has color clashing flowers growing all around in a haphazardly manner. So be careful about allocating the plants their respective locations. Arrange the assortments of flowers in accordance with their heights, textures and colors so that they complement each other without diminishing the beauty of your garden.

Keep aside one day from the entire week to be your gardening day. Generally, week -ends would be a good choice. On this day, equip yourself with all the essential gardening tools and accessories and get down to your work. If you have children or friends who are equally interested in gardening call for their assistance. The more the merrier!

Once you are done for the day clean your tools well and store them in their right place. Be sure to maintain your gardening tools because well maintained tools can give you years of good performance. After all tools aren’t something that you can afford to buy every week.

Whether you are an efficient gardener or not can be best proved by your garden itself. So, stop twiddling your thumbs and put your green fingers to use. As far as gardening is concerned, if you have really put in hard work your efforts will never go futile.

Chapter 1: A Beautiful Garden Is A Work Of Heart

There is immense satisfaction in creating your own garden plan the satisfaction derived from relaxing or entertaining in the garden as well as the satisfaction that comes from a job well done.

The effort that you expend in planning and executing a design unique to you will add to the enjoyment your garden provides for years to come.

How do you begin to create a garden space that is unique to you? Here are ten simple steps that will help you move effortlessly through the process.

1. Identify WHY you want a garden.

How will you use it? Who else will enjoy the garden? Remember that you may not be the sole inhabitant, so get input from all family members on how your outdoor space will be used.

2. Do a little dreaming.

Now that you know why you want a garden and how you intend to use it, let your imagination play with all the possible features in your special space. A little dreaming will uncover those attributes that will put your personal imprint on the garden.

Also decide whether you want a formal or an informal garden. Formal gardens are highly structured, divided by a strong central axis and cross axes. Informal gardens have a more natural look with strong, flowing curves.

3. Make a list of "must haves".

What items are essential? Listing your needs up front ensures that your final plan won't be missing anything important. Do you need a retaining wall? A privacy fences? A path to the garage? More parking spaces? Do children need a place to play? What about pets?

Chapter 1: Exercise and Pregnancy

Prescribing a medication for pregnant women is a complex process.

Before obstetricians and gynecologists decide which dose of which drug can best treat a condition without putting any harmful side effects on the mother and the baby, they consider the patient's age, general health, the number of months before delivery, tolerance for medications, and any other drugs the pregnant patient may be taking.

Prescribing exercise on pregnant women has to be just as scientific and precise. The type, intensity, frequency, and duration of a "dose" of exercise are all critical. One person's healthy, vigorous workout could be hazardous to another. These dangers may be greater in pregnant women because they are more likely to have strains and other serious side effects for the would-be mother.

However, if exercise will be implemented and carried out in a normal, average range, exercise will not have an effect on the overall condition of the pregnancy and especially on labor or delivery. Pregnancy Quality prenatal care should be given to a mother during her pregnancy. She should be prepared for the normal delivery of a healthy baby. Complications should be prevented at all costs.

All of these things are boiled down to the fact that a pregnant woman should be cared in such a way that she will not be compelled to do vigorous work but should not also stay in bed and be inactive until she gives birth to her baby.

Consequently, a pregnant woman's condition varies in relation to the growth and development of the baby inside her womb. Therefore, it is necessary that proper health guidance be provided by her physician during her visit.

Moreover, it is important to keep the pregnant woman's life active in order to promote good health, not only for her but also for the baby most importantly.

Physical conditions like blood pressure, weight and health status is usually monitored during the pregnant woman's visit to her doctor. For this reason, it is significant to note that exercise can be the number one factor in order to keep these aspects in good condition.

As the health experts contend, adequate physical and emotional information is needed by a pregnant woman to prepare herself for delivery. She needs practical health messages in keeping herself and the baby healthy.

Chapter 1: Introduction

Internet marketing can mean a lot of things. For some, internet marketing is practically synonymous with affiliate marketing. This is the process of selling products made by other people in order to earn commission.

But internet marketing can be more than that too. Of course, internet marketing can mean building a website or a blog, building a massive audience for that platform, and then making money from adverts (Google AdSense for instance) or selling your own products.

Internet marketing might mean selling a digital product such as an ebook or an online course.

Internet marketing might mean selling something physical.

Internet marketing may mean promoting a website as the end in itself – simply building a channel so that you can spread the word about something that’s important to you, or so that you can try to promote yourself to grow your own career. I recently spoke to a group of creative writers and explained to them how learning the basics of marketing on the web could allow them to promote themselves and find publishers!

And of course, internet marketing might mean marketing an existing business in order to gain more customers and make more sales. Any small business should be interested in marketing themselves online.

The fact of the matter is: internet marketing means getting word out on the web and it means creating brilliant content. And if you can do either or both of those things, then you can make the web work for you.

Once you do that then pretty much anything is possible.

Literally. We’ll see later in this book how the ability to work online can allow pretty much any of your wildest dreams and plans to come true – whether that means earning a passive income and travelling the world, or whether it means growing a massive business or working on projects that you are truly passionate about and getting paid for it!

The only problem is that very few people have any idea what makes the web tick. People tell me they want to start their own business selling crafts, or they tell me that they want to start blogging for fun but they have zero clue what that entails. What is SEO? What is marketing?

If you’re sitting there smugly thinking that you already know the basics of internet marketing, then time for a reality check. Because even if you know the basics of internet marketing, there’s a good chance that you don’t have all of the advanced skills you need to really make any project into a success.

In this book then, I am going to start by outlining those basics. I’m going to teach you internet marketing 101 for those of you with no prior experience. This is what makes the web tick. This is your bread and butter.

But from there, I’m then going to dive into the much more advanced stuff that many ‘internet marketing gurus’ in reality have no idea about whatsoever. You will learn skills here that will put you head and shoulders above the competition. You will learn tools that will make you immensely employable, to the point that you are never without work. And you’ll be able to turn any idea or concept into a reality.

Chapter 2: What Makes the Web Go Around

When I tell people that I work online, the reaction I very often get is bafflement. Countless people have admitted to me at one point or another that they have no idea what I do for a living. In fact, my grandma once made me promise to her that ‘whatever I did’ was not illegal!

When I left university and started working for myself, everyone expected me to fail. They all asked ‘when are you going to get a ‘proper job’?

A little offensive? Sure. But it’s understandable.

After all, it’s not at all obvious from an outsider’s perspective how money gets made on the web. How can you earn money online while sitting at home?

How do websites earn money even if no products actually change hands?

This is the part some of you will already know, but it bears repeating for those that don’t.

Essentially then, money is made online thanks to views.

The more people view a website or an article, the more opportunity there is to make money. And this is possible partly thanks to advertising and partly thanks to sales.

If you have a website that is getting several hundred thousand views per day, then you will have the option of placing Google Ads on it. These are adverts that are automatically generated by Google’s partners and which you will then place on your website. Each time the ad is clicked, Google earns some money and a portion of that revenue is split with you.

While this might sound strange, the reality is that those people are likely going to head to that other website and then spend more money. For instance, if an insurance company is paying for clicks on your website, chances are that the visitors it gains from this will buy at least some insurance and thus they’ll earn more money than they spend in the long term.

And don’t get it twisted: you’ll only earn a few cents per click in most cases so you really do need hundreds of thousands of views for a website to be profitable through this process alone.

If you’re still struggling to get your head around this, then the best comparison to make is with free papers and magazines that you might have seen being handed outside your local train station. Those free magazines cost money to print and they’re being given away!

But the customer in this case is not the person reading the magazine. The customer is the advertiser and the magazine has value to the advertiser because it has such a wide exposure. The more eyeballs see that paper or magazine, the more the advertiser can potentially stand to earn by placing their adverts there!

This is how a website works too.

Internet Marketing Business Models

In this chapter, we’re going to cover some internet marketing business models. If you are interested in internet marketing, then you definitely need to know what business models are out there and how to choose the best one for you.

There are many different business models that we will cover in this chapter, and you can make money from every single one of them if you want.

But first you have to choose the right one and that not only will take some thought, it also takes a great deal of information. That’s exactly what this chapter is going to give you.

Introduction to Internet Marketing

Before we get into the business models, let’s talk about internet marketing in general. Loosely defined, internet marketing is any type of business that you do on the internet to make money.

We’re going to go over some the specific methods to do so shortly. Internet marketing got started in earnest when people realized that they could influence where their website landed in the search results.

Since then, the market has exploded to the point where it seems like everyone is doing internet marketing.

Internet marketing is a wonderful business to get in for several reasons.

• First, you have unlimited income potential. Internet marketing has made quite a few millionaires and there are tons and tons of people making six figures with an internet marketing enterprise.

• In addition, internet marketing can be a residual, passive form of income.

That means that you can be doing something else – even having a full-time job – and still be making money with your internet marketing efforts.

Defining the Business Model

Internet marketing is composed of various business models. A business model is simply a method of making money on the internet. There are some standards that have proven very effective for internet marketers, such as Amazon, and others that are less used but still lucrative.

People are also creating more opportunities daily to make money on the internet.

Types of Business Models

Let’s go over ten of the most popular ways that you can make money on the internet, so that you can see each one in detail and understand how they work. Then we’ll give you some advice on how to choose the right one for you. But you must understand the model before you can determine if you want to get into that business.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the first internet marketing business model we’ll be discussing. Have you heard of the website Clickbank? Clickbank is a well-known place where affiliates can find products to promote. Clickbank is by no means the only website that offers this service, but they are probably the biggest and most well known.
When you do affiliate marketing:

• you get the customer to visit your site
• you use your sales page to convince them to buy
• then you send them to the seller’s website with your affiliate ID attached.

This means that when they buy the product, you get a commission.

The exact amount of the commission varies with each product, but it can be a substantial amount of money.

Amazon Affiliate

The next model that we’re going to discuss is the Amazon affiliate program. The reason that the Amazon program isn’t lumped in with the other affiliate marketing programs listed above is simple: it’s so good that it deserves its own section. Amazon has everything that you could possibly want listed on their website.

It doesn’t matter what product you are looking for, Amazon almost certainly has it. The great thing is: if you send someone to Amazon to buy a product that they were looking for anyway, Amazon pays you a commission.

All you have to do is figure out how to get people to your page, determine what products they are interested in, and then send them onto Amazon to buy that product.

Content Marketing

Next, we’re going to discuss content marketing. Content marketing is a type of marketing where you create content for the purpose of creating keywords that you will be indexed for in the search engines.

This is different than a blog, because this content is designed differently. It needs to inform and be of great value to the reader. It is more formal than a blog post; it is an article.

Content marketing works as long as you remember that content is king – meaning that having good content (and a lot of it) is the number one thing that is going to get your website ranked high in the search engines.

You still need to do your keyword research of course, and you still want to be using linking strategies, but content marketing is all about the quality of the content.

Chapter 1: A Glance At Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing is a concept of business marketing, both to customers and to other businesses, via the internet.

But, to explore and understand this black box is not simple. The main reason is that the internet is forever evolving and is subjected to waves of changes.

With new advances in internet technology, businesses are able to leverage on it and add to their marketing approach and content. Similarly, more people are logging onto the internet every day as the internet access are made more affordable and readily available.

The demographic is changing, and no longer is the wealthy individual the only target of internet marketing. Today, we should consider all income levels in our internet marketing approaches of business.

In the 1990s, internet marketing went berserk. It was a brand-new concept, and caution had been thrown to the wind in all the hype. Companies did not take into consideration that the same variables of marketing in other forms of media should logically be applied to internet marketing as well.

Their failure to study markets and create sound strategies led to the fall of many so-called dot-coms in the end of 2000. The survivors, and successors, began to look toward time-tested logic in marketing for direction, and the result was massive growth.

Through the now-careful approach of businesses and marketers alike, targeted advertising on the internet has brought forth great success. Virtually any market you may wish to break into can be tapped on the internet. Many marketing firms offer the solutions a business needs to get their products out to consumers, while a small firm may wish to handle their marketing on their own and can find lower-cost solutions for their goals as well.

A major resource for internet marketing is the search engines. To get the spontaneous suggestions offered by television or radio, pop-up ads and ads placed directly on a web-site are used. Another excellent form of marketing is the email feature that is available on the internet. But bear in mind that the business will only achieve success when you have built a good relationship with the customer.

Many people are spending hours on the internet daily. This is because the internet offers convenience, and it is capable of helping you get your tasks completed, with handy and easy to use point and click features.

Many tasks no longer require a trip in the car to be completed. Thus, relationships are growing on the web, and as they do, the pace of internet commerce has rocketed into the trillions of dollars. Advances in technology, and increased traffic, are leading to a future for internet marketing that can only point skyward.

Chapter 1: Genealogy Made Free - Start Yours Now!

Genealogy, to most people, is just the simple term ‘family tree’. One would be foolish to not have any interest on his origin.

To start with one’s genealogy is like starting a long hike. There are things one needs to know and prepare for. In addition to that, it would consume some of your time. Just have patience and it will all be worth it!

There are many sites offering free information on genealogy. As the saying goes, it is now just a click of a mouse away. As mentioned, one must prepare some information before starting to look for additional ones. What are these ‘information’?

Begin with the basic ones like dates (of birth, marriages and death), family names and first names (use of paternal last name, name after marriage, Chinese last names, middle names and nicknames, etc.), occupations and places. After gathering all these, read on for the free stuff offered on genealogical sites:

Genealogical forms for downloading like charts as basis for the family tree, calendar (used for research), forms for note taking, deed indexes (grantors and grantees), checklist for libraries or archives the researcher visited), journals and worksheets for research, table of contents, index for marriages (statewide), and vital records.

Other forms are outline for biography, log for correspondence, family group sheet (chart filled out by family groups), time capsules, checklist of military records, tradition records, census records checklist (which includes 1790-1930 censuses). One could also have a checklist of books and articles that the researcher finds to be relevant to the genealogical work.

One-click Ease

Just like in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator Actions is a very powerful and helpful tool that makes you streamline and speed up your work by automating very simple tasks to the most complex techniques within a single click of a button.

Seldom used in Illustrator though, Actions are the one-click ease that designers are looking for especially when it comes to editing multiple files with the same technique. Now you don’t need to repeat and apply the same effects over and over again manually.

Create Custom Actions

If you want a more specific effect to be applied to your projects, creating a custom Action can be really convenient. Depending on your Adobe Illustrator skill, you can create simple adjustments to the most complex effects in one click.

Below is a step by step basic guide to creating Actions in Adobe Illustrator.

1. Click on WINDOW-> ACTIONS to open the Actions Dialogue.

2. In the ACTIONS PANEL, select the CREATE NEW SET button and name your custom actions folder. In this example, we have named our new folder “CUSTOM”.

3. Once you’ve created a Custom Folder, click on the CREATE NEW ACTION button. In the NEW ACTION box, supply the new action name and make sure that “Custom” is chosen for the Set option. In this example, we are naming the new Action “VectorToons” and setting is color to RED (mark/highlight).

4. Hit the RECORD button and start editing your project. Remember that from this point, every action you are doing to your document will be recorded.

5. Once done with your editing, hit the STOP button.

6. You’ve now recorded your own custom action. Every time you open a new file and want to apply the same action from your previous work, all you have to do is find your desired ACTION in the panel and hit the PLAY button.
