Introduction

Motivation is usually defined as the force that compels us to action. This is what causes us to work hard and gives us the impetus we need to succeed at whatever we choose to do. Motivation is also the driving force behind our behaviors and our ability to accomplish the goals we want to achieve.

Everyone needs motivation in order to gain that drive or will to succeed, to do the great things or goals we want to achieve in our lives. It’s similar to an automobile needing fuel to get where it needs to go; without that motivation to drive us, we will have a very difficult time getting to where we need and want to go, much like an automobile without fuel.

The key challenge for many of us is, how do we get and maintain the motivation we need to succeed? Virtually everyone deals with periods of lower motivation, often due to unexpected challenges or difficulties that arise. It can be the slow lack of progress toward our goals that wear down our motivation to succeed. The challenge for us is keeping that motivation level high so that we can achieve the goals and success that we want to achieve.

Motivation is not the same for everyone. Some people will be driven by a love of family, others will be driven by their own careers, yet others will be driven by circumstances outside of themselves, such as the environment. What drives one person may not drive someone else, but everyone is driven by something, someone, some factor. The key is learning what makes us “tick,” what causes us to raise our level of performance, our awareness, and our effort to achieve our goals and attain success in our lives.

In this book, you will learn the different types of motivation and learn how to set goals that will interest and motivate you. You will learn how to find inspiration in the environment and circumstances that surround you. You will learn how to establish a successful mindset so that you can achieve the goals you want to achieve. You will learn how aligning your values with your work will give you increased motivation to strive harder and do your best to reach your goals. You will learn how surrounding yourself with successful work can aid your motivation and make you strive that much harder for your goals. Finally, you will learn how finding a mentor can help to keep you motivated so that you have a greater chance of achieving your goals.

Chapter 1: Different Types Of Motivation

There are many different types of motivation, and different types of motivation will drive different people. One type of motivation will drive a person, while it will not drive another person. Similarly, another type of motivation will drive the second person and not the first person. In this chapter, you will learn of the different types of motivation that can drive us to do great thingsand achieve our goals.

There are two main types of motivation: Intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is internal, coming from within oneself, and it is often invisible to other people. Extrinsic motivation is external, coming from outside oneself, so it can often be seen by other people.

Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation can come from a variety of sources, and those sources can be positive or negative. For instance, one source of motivation is an incentive or reward for something that we do well. For example, if we do our jobs well, we may get a monetary bonus to increase our paycheck. This is an example of positive extrinsic motivation-people can see we are working hard to do our jobs well so that we get rewarded for it.

Similarly, we are also attempting to do our jobs well so we are not fired and replaced by someone with a better skill set or better ability to perform those skills. The extrinsic motivation here is fear, the fear of losing our jobs. Again, people can see that this is the reason we are really striving to do well in our jobs.

Some examples of intrinsic motivation include achievement. We are looking to satisfy our internal desire to achieve our goals and take on more challenges. This is positive intrinsic motivation; this is a type of motivation that other people really can’t see-it is a desire within ourselves to accomplish the tasks we set out to do and take on more challenges.

Another example of intrinsic motivation is growth. Our need to improve ourselves and our skills is an internal one that other people really can’t see. We often want to grow to be able to influence our environment and our world more easily and make a difference.

One type of motivation that can be positive or negative is the desire and need for power. A positive need for power is one where we want to control our own lives and be able to influence others in a positive way. However, a negative need for power is where we have the overriding need to dominate others and control every aspect of their lives. This can lead to some people wanting to commit illegal, immoral, and/or harmful behavior toward others in an effort to satisfy this overriding need.

Another powerful form of motivation is social. We often feel a need to belong to a larger group, to be accepted by them and be affiliated with them. We often look to either be accepted into a group that shares our views and values, or we modify our views and values to be more closely aligned with the group.

All of these forms of motivation can be positive or negative; it really depends on how the person is motivated by these forms that determines whether the motivation is one that drives them to do positive actions or negative actions. As said before, different peoplewill be motivated by different factors; one factor can motivate one person and not another.

You’ve learned different types of motivation that drive people to reach for and attain their goals. In the next chapter, you will learn to set goals that interest you so you can have a greater chance of achieving them.

Introduction

We all want to be successful and happy in our lives. We have dreams of what we want to accomplish and what we want to be remembered for. Those dreams can also be referred to as goals, achievements we want to reach so that we can achieve success, feel happiness, and gain new opportunities for greater achievements and success.

Virtually all of us have goals we want to reach, but many of us struggle with how to reach those goals, how to turn those goals into reality. Sometimes, it’s not easy to figure out how to reach lofty goals, looking as if it is toohard or impossible to reach those goals, letting the obstacles that stand in our way successfully block us from reaching those goals.

The key to achieving the most we can out of life and getting the most happiness from it is to turn our goals into reality. Many times, the loftiest goals that seem impossible to reach are much more achievable than we first think; we just have to break the steps down to reach that lofty goal into more manageable steps so that we realize the goal is certainly achievable.

In this book, you will learn why it is important to set goals. You will also learn the difference between short-term and long-term goals. You’ll also learn why it’s always important to write your goals down. To reach goals, you have to first define them, then prioritize them so that you can reach all of these goals in the most efficient manner possible. In addition, you’ll learn why you need to set specific goal deadlines. Finally, you’ll learn how to overcome and eliminate distractions that stand in your way of achieving your goals and learning to track your progress so that you can better manage and overcome distractions so you can achieve more of the goals that you set.

Chapter 1: The Importance Of Goal Setting

To achieve goals, you first have to set them. It’s much like driving to a destination; if you don’t determine where you are going, how are you going to get there? Therefore, you need to set goals that you want to achieve.

Many people who want to achieve goals are not as steadfast in settingthem. This is a mistake because, if you aren’t committed to setting goals, then you can wander around aimlessly in your actions, believing that you are getting closer to the goals you want when in reality, you are wasting time and energy that could be better utilized if you set the goal ahead of time.

Setting the goal before attempting to achieve it is important because it gives you a clear idea of what actions and steps you’ll need to take in order to achieve that goal. You’ll see how challenging the goal is, approximately in what time frame you can realistically expect to achieve the goal, and even see ways in which you can break the goal down into stages and steps that are more easily manageable and doable.

For instance, if you are wanting to lose 100 pounds, expecting to do that in one month is unrealistic; therefore, setting a goal of losing 100 pounds and really focusing on it will let you know that it will take a great deal of time and effort to do it. If you set that goal of losing 100 pounds, you can consider what steps you’ll have to take in order to achieve that goal-these steps can include eating less food overall, eating little or no nutrition-deficient food, and eating more of nutritious food. It can also include eating few to no snacksin between meals. Another step can be to drink more water and more drinks with little to no sugar in them. It also can include exercising more often and for longer durations.

As you can see, setting a goal can help you to break down the goal into more manageable steps and see what actions you need to take in order to achieve that goal. Thinking about losing 100 pounds can seem mind-boggling and virtually impossible to achieve, but if you actually set the goal of losing 100 pounds and really break down the steps needed to achieve that goal, you’ll begin to realize that there are actions you can take that can add up to where you will begin losing weight. Over time, you will lose more weight until you have lost the 100 pounds you want to lose.

This is why goal setting is so important. Many goals that seem impossible to achieve on the surface are actually quite doable when you actually set the goal and really look at what steps are needed to achieve it. If you are wanting to get a college degree in aspecific field, but have never taken a college course before, you may think you don’t have what it takes to get that degree. Yet, if you really set the goal of attaining that degree and break down the steps needed to attain that degree, you’ll see that you are fully capable of attaining that degree by following the steps and actions needed to attain it. Yes, it may take many steps and time to do it, but it’s certainly doable if you are willing to put the time and effort into doing the tasks needed to getthat degree.

As you set a goal and really analyze what it will take to attain it, you will often see that the goal can be broken down into several stages with many steps in each stage. Each of these steps and stages can be termed as a short-term goal versus the overall long-term goal you wish to achieve (such as losing 100 pounds or attaining that college degree). You will learn more about the differences between short-term and long-term goals in the next chapter.

Chapter 2: Short-Term Vs Long-Term Goals

In the last chapter, you learned about the importance of goal setting, specifically when it comes to actually committing to a goal and seeing what will be involved in order to reach that goal. While breaking down a goal, you will often see that there are sections or stages of tasks that need to be completed in order to attain that goal. These sections or stages of tasks can be labeled as short-term goals, while the overall goal is your long-term goal.

A short-term goal is a step or accomplishment thathelps to bring you closer to your long-term goal. For instance, in the last chapter we talked about wanting to lose 100 pounds. If you lose 5 pounds, that can be considered a step or accomplishment toward your long-term goal of losing 100 pounds, since you only need to lose 95 more pounds to reach your long-term goal of losing 100 pounds. Every 5 pounds you lose brings you that much closer to your long-term goal of losing 100 pounds.

Similarly, if you want to earn a college degree, but have never takena college course before, passing the entrance requirements to enter a college you want to enter can be considered a short-term goal, since you have achieved a stage or step that helps to bring you closer to your long-term goal of earning a college degree.

It’s important when setting lofty long-term goals that you break down the goal into smaller steps or stages that enable you to set short-term goals. Setting short-term goals is key for several reasons. One reason is that you can attain short-term goals more quickly than long-term goals. You can lose 5 pounds quicker than you can lose 100 pounds, and you can pass a college entrance exam quicker than you can earn a college degree.

Introduction

Virtually everyone wants to boost their wealth. This includes both making more money and better managing the money they make. However, learning how to increase one’s wealth is not that easy to do, even though the steps to doing itaren’t that hard. In essence, it takes a good deal of discipline to repeat the steps necessary to build wealth. In other words, you need to learn good wealth-building actions and repeating those actions over and over again so that they become almost automatic. Hence, you need to learn good wealth-building habits so that you can increase your wealth and live a higher quality of life.

This book will show you exactly what habits are and how they work. Then, it will dive into what are good habits, bad habits, and the habits in between. It will then dive more into the topic of bad habits and how they can be phased out of your life. It will then show you how to form good habits and ensure you stick to them. You’ll then see why a support system is important to ensure that you stick to those good habits as time continues. You’ll learn how to start small in your quest to rid bad habits and obtain good habits, creating one new wealth habit at a time. Finally, you’ll learn how to rinse and repeat the process of building new wealth habits and maintaining all of the ones you have adopted.

When you have finished reading this book, you should know exactly what a habit is, what good and bad habits are, how to phase out the bad ones and include the good ones in your life, how to have helpful support ensure you are keeping up with the good habits, and how to repeat the process.

Chapter 1: Exploring Habits And How They Work

According to Dictionary.com, a habit is an “acquired behavior pattern regularly followed untilit has become almost involuntary.” This means that a habit is a behavior that is repeatedly done until you almost don’t know that you are even doing it.

This shows that habits are not behaviors or actions that are acquired overnight; they take time toform as part of our collective actions. This means that both good and bad habits will not form overnight, and that bad habits will not be broken overnight either; it takes time and an unconscious effort to form a habit.

Therefore, whereas at one time admirers of Dr. Maxwell Maltz’s Psycho-Cyberneticsthought it would only take 21 days to acquire a new habit, a 2010 University College London study showed that it took an average of 66 days (i.e. over 2 months) to make a new habit virtually automatically. In that same study, one participant acquired the new dietary habit in 18 days (i.e. 1.5 weeks), but one participant didn’t even acquire the new dietary habit in the 84-day (12-week) study period; it was projected he would only acquire it as a habit after254 days (i.e. over 8.5 months)!

Therefore, you must know that a habit is something that only comes via time and repeated action. This includes wealth-building habits; you will not improve your wealth overnight, as you will not gain these new wealth-building habits overnight. Take the time, effort, and focus necessary to learn those habits, and they will serve you well and help to improve your wealth over time.

In order to form a habit, you must do the action repeatedly to the point where you almost don’t know that you are doing it. In fact, it’s easier for other people to spot that you are doing it and recognize it as a habit rather than you yourself.

This is often why bad habits are so difficult to break; we don’t even recognize ourselves as doing it until usually someone else points it out.

Via New York Times business writer Charles Duhigg’s book, The Power of Habit, habits form via what experts call a “habit loop,” involving a three-part process. The first part is the cue or trigger, which alerts your brain to go into automatic fold and allow a behavior or routine to occur. The behavior or routine that occurs is the second step in the habit loop process. The third part is the reward, which is what your brain likes and enables it to remember the “habit loop” in the future.

The brain likes to develop these habits because it can conserve its mental energy toward another task while it engages in the habit. This is a key reason why people form habits and why we are very unaware of the fact we havespecific habits.

Therefore, you have learned that a habit constitutes a repeated behavior to the extent that we are almost unaware that we are doing it. You have learned of the three-step “habit loop” process that forms habits. You have also learned that habits, both good and bad, take considerable time to form in order for the habitual behavior to be virtually automatic. In the next chapter, you will learn the difference between good and bad habits, as well as in between the good and bad.

Chapter 2: Good Habits Versus Bad Habits And In Between

You learned in the last chapter that a habit is an “acquired behavior pattern” that is repeatedly followed until the action almost becomes involuntary to where you are almost unaware of the repeated action. Youalso learned the three-step “habit loop” process that leads to us acquiring habits, and that it takes a considerable amount of time to form a new habit. Note that this holds true for both good and bad habits.

In truth, the only real difference between good and bad habits is that the acquired behavior pattern is a good action or a bad action as defined by the majority of society. For instance, if you form the habit of shutting off the water while you are brushing your teeth, that would be considered a “good habit” because most consider that to be a good action that preserves the environment and saves on your utility bill. Conversely, if you form the habit of leaving the water on while you are brushing your teeth, this would be considered a “bad habit” because most consider that to be a bad action because it hurts the environment and causes you to pay more on your utility bill. However, both instances are habits-the process of forming them is virtually the same in both cases.

Therefore, you need to determine what good habits you want to adopt, then repeat the good action that constitutes that habit repeatedly until you do it automatically without realizing it. Similarly, you need to recognize the bad habits you want to abolish, then avoid repeating the bad action that constitutes that habit continuously until you automatically do an alternative action instead that is considered better than that bad action. This involves doing alternative actions that “break” the bad action you repeatedly do-this is howyou will break the bad habit.

Introduction

The key to thriving in business these days is to find fresh, new ways to connect with your target audience. Social media is a great way to do that, and Instagram is one of the more popular social media platforms out there right now.

Over the past few years, its audience has grown exponentially to the point that brands and businesses large and small can no longer afford to ignore it. Neither should you.

Your target audience is on Instagram. Your job is to get in front of them there. In this guide, we'll talk in detail how to go about doing just that. Follow along, and you'll be ready to broaden your reach and grow your business.

As a savvy marketer, you also know that it’s important to have multiple points of contact with your prospects. An Instagram presence and marketing strategy will help you do that. Your target audience will start to see you everywhere, on Facebook, Pinterest, your website, and email. Instagram will become another point of contact and help you find and develop that all-important relationship with your potential customers. From there you can entice them to join your list, buy something from you, or become a paying client. In short, Instagram is one more way to funnel people, who are already out on the web actively looking for what you have to offer, to your sites and into your business.

We’ll talk more about how Instagram is different than other social media platforms in the next chapter. For now, let’s just say that you get to show off your stuff in pretty pictures. After that, I’ll show you how to get started with Instagram, followed by a chapter on growing your audience there. Last but not least, we’ll wrap things up by looking at monetizing your Instagram account.

Ready to get started? Keep on reading …

What Is Instagram And How Does It Differ From Other Social Media Platforms

Let’s start our short report on using Instagram for business by taking a closer look at what it is and how it differs from other Social Media Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to name a few. While it is certainly still social, there are a few things that make Instagram stand out from the crowd.

Some of these key features may seem like a disadvantage from a marketing perspective, but by leveraging them, we can turn that around and turn Instagram into a powerful marketing tool. In this chapter, I'll point them out to you, so you know what to expect as you start to dive into Instagram marketing. Further down in the report, we'll talk in more detail about what you can do to overcome these rather unique features and so-called "limitations" and turn them to your advantage. Let's dive in.

Instagram Is Very Visual

Let’s start with the obvious. Instagram is a very visual platform. It’s all about sharing photos and images. It’s about showing off where you’re at, what you’ve got, and what you’re doing.

Pictures can be a great storytelling medium. I'm sure you've heard the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. If you're a writer or speaker, this can be a bit of a challenge. Being able to teach or tell a story with a picture is a new craft, but certainly something you can learn and leverage.

Since everyone learns and consumes information differently, it's good to have an Instagram presence, no matter what your business is. A portion of your target audience is visual learners, and they will gravitate to a visual platform like Instagram.

A great starting place to learn more is to open up a personal Instagram account, follow a few people and brands you like and pay attention to how they use images to tell a story. You can learn a lot by just observing what others are doing to grow their followers, encourage engagement, and market on Instagram.

Instagram Is Used Almost Exclusively On Mobile Devices

The next big difference with Instagram is that it is almost entirely used on mobile devices. From there we can narrow it down even more, and I think it's fair to say that most people use it on their smartphone.

While other social media platforms are often accessed across multiple devices from desktop and laptop computers to tablets and phones, Instagram is built to work on a smartphone with a built-in camera, and that's still how most people use it.

While this certainly makes it different, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You know from the beginning that you are reaching mobile users. That means you can make sure your images are mobile friendly and that the text and call to action you use takes this into account as well. You know that it's not easy to copy and paste, for example, so you use easy to remember and type short links in your descriptions for example, or refer back to the link in your profile.

When it comes to copywriting, and yes, every bit of content you create to gain more exposure and particularly calls to action are copywriting, it helps to know as much as possible about your audience. The fact that they use Instagram tells you that they like visual content and that they are on a mobile device. That's good info to have.

Last but not least, this means that you can get in front of them more often. The average person checks their mobile phone 76 times per day. That means you potentially have 76 chances to get in front of your target audience. Of course, not every single interaction includes Instagram, but it's a lot more than on any other type of device. I’m pretty sure you don’t boot up your computer or open your laptop that often. Being in the palm of their hand whenever and wherever they are with their smartphone can be a valuable asset and helps you get your brand and your message across anytime anywhere.

With Instagram It’s Quick And Easy To Interact

Another huge advantage with Instagram is the fact that it’s easy to interact and connect with content and brands. All your followers need to do to connect with you is to open their app, and like or comment on your images. The easier it is to interact, the more they will do it and start to forge a connection with you and the content you’re sharing on this platform. Instagram does an excellent job at making it as easy as possible.

Exploring Habits And How They Work

According to Dictionary.com, a habit is an “acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary.”

This means that a habit is a behavior that is repeatedly done until you almost don’t know that you are even doing it.

It becomes like second nature to you. Back in 2010 a University College London study showed that it took an average of 66 days (i.e. over 2 months) to make a new habit virtually automatically.

Therefore, this in depthstudy tells us two very important things:

• Habits don’t become automatic overnight
• Habits cannot be broken overnight.

A habit is something that only comes via time and repeated action. We often don’t even recognize ourselves as doing a bad habit until usually someone else points it out.

The brain likes to develop these habits because it can conserve its mental energy toward another task while it engages in the habit.

Good Habits Versus Bad Habits And In Between

In truth, the only real difference between good and bad habits is that the acquired behavior pattern is a good action or a bad action as defined by the majority of society.

• You need to determine what good habits you want to adopt, then repeat the good action that constitutes that habit repeatedly until you do it automatically without realizing it.
• You need to recognize the bad habits you want to abolish, then avoid repeating the bad action that constitutes that habit continuously until you automatically do an alternative action instead that is considered better than that bad action.

It will take time to “rewire” your brain to dispose of the bad habit and take up the new good habit.

Actions that take more effort will take a longer period of time to adopt as habits compared to those actions that take less effort.

Define Bad Habits And Phase Them Out Of Your Life

Bad habits are behaviors considered bad by most of society and are repeatedly done by the person. We become so immune to the action because it seems so natural to us that others usually have to point out the action to us.

Breaking or overriding the bad habit will NOT be an overnight process, and depending on quickly you adopt new habits and the complexity of the action(s) involved, could take a few weeks to several months to adopt the new habit.

How To Form Good Habits And Make Them Stick

When you have a bad habit and want to replace it with a good habit, you need to consciously be aware of the bad habit and know what action you need to change to turn the bad habit into the good habit.

• We need to determine what alternative action we must take to eliminate the bad action.
• We must repeat the positive action many times before it will become ingrained in our actions and we start doing this new behavior automatically without realizing it.

This is when the bad habit will be erased and the good habit is established.

Set Up A Support System To Stay On Track

It’s quite possible you will do the old bad habit a number of times while trying to integrate the new good habit to override the bad habit.

• A support system can be helpful in ensuring you stay on track into integrating the new habit into your regular routine.
• A support system can include family and friends who can check in on you and ensure you’re sticking with the new good habit.
• A support system can include a memory device, such as tying a piece of string around your forefinger, to remind you to do the good action/behavior, not the bad action/behavior.

Start Small And Create Wealth One New Habit At A Time

Most people will attempt to make massive changes to their lives instead of just trying to make one simple change.

The problem with the massive change approach is that people often try to do too much, get overwhelmed, lose motivation and enthusiasm for it, then revert back to their old habits and routines.

It’s better to successfully integrate a new habit instead of trying to implement 3-5 new habits and only doing them occasionally, while still doing your old habits here and there.

• The amount of effort needed to successfully implement a new habit will directly impact how much time it takes to successfully implement that new habit.
• If the new habit you want to adopt is complex and substantial, you should expect to take more time to successfully integrate it into your regular routine.

Each new habit you want to integrate into your regular routine is something you believe will help you to improve your life and build your wealth, but that will NOT happen if you don’t successfully integrate it.
Take the required time necessary to ensure that a new habit is successfully integrated into your routine.

Different Types of Motivation

There are two main types of

• Intrinsic (internal) motivation
• extrinsic (external) motivation

There are also many different sources of motivation including:

• Incentive
• Fear
• Achievement
• Growth
• Power
• Social

All types and sources can lead to positive or negative actions.

Different sources of motivation inspire different people; one type of motivation will not inspire all people.

Set Goals That Interest You

People need to learn what makes them “tick” when it comes to what interests them.

What inspires you to really raise your game and increase your performance, focus, and effort to attain your goals?

Really evaluate yourself and see what inspires and motivates you to push yourself harder and reach for your goals.

Once you can answer what form(s) of motivation inspire(s) you to reach farther and work harder, you will have an easier time knowing what goals will interest you and inspire you to work harder and do more.

Find Inspiration In What Surrounds You

Inspiration is defined by Dictionary.com as “a thing or person that inspires.”

We all will experience periods of lower motivation, especially if we are experiencing less success than we anticipated or moving more slowly toward our goals than we anticipated.

• The key is to keep the motivation high, as it’s really our “fuel” to attain the goals we want to achieve.

We need to look around at our environment and see who or what can inspire to keep our motivation and enthusiasm up to attain our goals.

There are often many examples that can help us improve our performance.

If, by chance, there aren’t any forms of inspiration in your environment, or if these examples aren’t helping enough, that may indicate you need to change your environment (i.e. change your job, move to a new location, etc.).

Establish A Successful Mindset

It’s virtually impossible for anyone to do their best work and achieve the goals they want when they have a negative outlook.

It is vital you have a positive, successful mindset in order to give you the best chance to achieve the goals you wish to accomplish.

Look back upon your life and think about your recent successes to help boost your outlook and mindset.

Talk to family/friends/psychologist/counselor to help boost your outlook and mindset if you need external help.Listen to inspirational music and CDs/DVDs to help improve your outlook and mindset.

Align Your Values With Your Work

We need to know what motivates us to strive harder for our goals and achieve them.We also need to know what we truly value so that we can be driven by it.

• We all have an innate tendency to not work as hard or not do as much for a company if their values run contrary to ours.

To work hard for achievement, incentive, and even out of fear for a company whose values run contrary to ours would cause us to not be true to ourselves, which hurts our motivation.

When you work for a company or run a business that appreciates the same values that you do, you feel more inspired and motivated to do more for that company or business, to strive more for them to succeed.
This leads to you wanting to achieve more and grow more, as you are being true to yourself and advancing the causes and values you believe in.

When you work for a company or run a business whose values align with yours, it’s likely you will meet people who have similar values, which can magnify your power and influence to affect your power in a way that brings your values and ideals to the world at large more easily.

Surround Yourself With Successful People

When we are surrounded by successful people, their positive “can-do” attitude, inspiration, and habits can rub off on us and improve our ability to perform the tasks we need to complete in order to achieve our goals.

Once you can fully utilize this key aspect of your marketing, you’ll find that it helps you to create something that is much bigger than a simple brand. You become a movement. And that’s how you achieve the maximum measure of success.

What is Content Marketing?

Before we dive in any further, it of course makes sense to simply ask ourselves: what is content marketing? There’s a chance you know the term already but I ask that you bear with me in case there are aspects of the definition that you have missed out.

At its most basic, content marketing is the process of using content in order to market a website. This means that you could consider SEO to be a form of content marketing – in as much as you are creating content that Google will be able to index. This way, your content is making your site easier to find and thus it is a form of marketing.

Content marketing can also be seen as a crucial aspect of social media marketing. Most social media marketing strategies involve sharing posts and links on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and very often these will include content that is on the brand’s own website. Take a look at the highly popular Facebook Page IFL Science. This page mainly posts science news by sharing blog posts from its own site. This ensures that liking the page provides readers with a constant stream of interesting information and it helps to gain more likes as a result.

But the objective of content marketing goes beyond simply getting people to your website. All these uses for content demonstrate one key fact: the internet runs on content. The reason that people search for topics on Google is because they are looking for either information or entertaining. Both those things are examples of content.

By filling your site with great posts, you are giving people a reason to like your Facebook page. What’s more, is that you are giving Google a reason to add you to its search results. Google wants to pair its visitors with the top sites and resources on the web. In doing so, that is how it is able to provide value and that is what will keep people coming back.

But if your site is filled with great content, then you are also giving people a good reason to come to your site directly. In other words, content marketing that is good enough will eventually cut out the middle man. Content marketing that is good enough will encourage visitors to bookmark your site and to visit it regularly as part of their routine in order to see what new posts you’ve uploaded and what more they can learn.

In other words, you are filling your site with value.

Once someone is visiting your site directly and without being encouraged to do so by an advert or by Google, then they have evolved beyond being a simple visitor. Now they are a fan. They are actively choosing to engage with your brand, so they must really like the type of content you provide, your style of writing or the topic that you cover.

This takes your site to a whole different level and that’s not even the whole story…

Chapter 2: Why Content Marketing is Crucial for Selling

Content marketing doesn’t only ensure greater loyalty and give you a big audience to sell to though: it also gives you more impact and authority.

Think about your favorite celebrity.

Someone that you really look up to, whose work you admire and who you think has got their life up together. Imagine if they recommended a certain item of clothing, or a certain health supplement. Would you be more likely to buy it?

The answer for the general population is a resounding yes. This is why the shoe that Under Armor designed with huge online influencer Dwayne Johnson was the fastest selling of 2017. The shoe: The Rock Delta, had the considerable advantage of being recommended by someone with a huge audience and a huge amount of authority and trust within that community. The objective of content marketing is essentially to build that kind of trust and authority directly. Instead of working with an authority, you are going to become that authority.

Take a look at someone like Tim Ferriss, Pat Flynn or even Tony Robbins. These are people who offer value through their blogs and their videos so that when they have something to sell, they have millions of people waiting to buy from them. Everything they release is a hit, which is because of the groundwork they put in at the start. The same goes for YouTube personality Elliott Hulse, or bodybuilding site T-Nation.com. These are sites with fans not just readers.

Quiet Your Mind And Focus

We need to be more proficient in our work to accomplish more. In many cases, people fail to be productive because they lose focus and let their minds wander, leading to a loss in productivity.

The key is to focus your mind on the task at hand and block out all other distractions and thoughts that are unrelated to the task at hand.

• Failure to put aside thoughts unrelated to the task at hand will only slow you down and lead to a higher probability of mistakes.
• Get a good night’s sleep every night to boost focus and productivity, reduce mistakes.
• Don’t let other issues or problems bother you.

Basic Ingredients Of Productivity

There are three basic ingredients to productivity:

• Time
• Energy
• Attention

Without all three of these ingredients your productivity will be lower than it can be, and you won’t achieve the amount of success you are expecting.

How To Measure Your Productivity

Dictionary.com defines productivity as “the quality, state, or fact of being able to generate, create, enhance, or bring forth goods and services.”

Labor productivity is defined as “the output volume divided by the labor input use.” Boost Your Productivity

• In other words, its the amount of effort and time that the worker puts in and how many units of production he/she produces in that time span.

If a worker produces one unit (say, one ebook) an hour and another worker produces two units (say, two ebooks) in one hour, then the second worker is two times more productive than the first worker.
Being more productive means being better able to manage one’s time, focus one’s attention on the tasks required, and/or utilize the energy necessary to complete the tasks required in the same time period as another worker.

In order to boost your productivity, you need to be able to produce more of the product or provide more of the service you deliver in the same amount of time or less than you have before.

When it comes to businesses, it’s not just your production, but the production of your workers who work for you, that account for your total productivity.

Start Laying A Productive Foundation

Firstly you need to eliminate all distractions from your work area and clear your mind of any doubts and/or worries you may have.

You also need to be totally focused and invested in the working process in order to produce the maximum number of products/content and/or render the most services within a specific time span.

Have a clear plan of what needs to be done in terms of tasks and projects and how to go about best doing them.

• In regards to employees/outsourcers, have an agenda of tasks and projects to complete and a time table on which you can expect them to complete them.

• In regards to employees/outsourcers, lay down the ground rules on what needs to be done and how quickly they should be done.

Implement Simple Time Management Techniques

You must manage your time as efficiently as possible in order to be as productive as possible.

Monitor your time very carefully and ensure you are working efficiently during the times you are working to ensure you are utilizing your time to the best of your ability.

• Note how long you think it will take you to complete a project on a piece of paper, in a text file, or in a spreadsheet file.

• Time how long it takes you to complete specific tasks.

• Time how long your work periods are, your breaks are, and how long any distractions are.

Use the clock on your computer and/or mobile device, or use an online timer to record the respective time periods.

Compare the time it took you to complete the project versus the time you expected; if you met or beat that time, reward yourself.

If you took longer than expected, review what slowed you down- was it distractions, lack of focus, task was more difficult than expected- then make adjustments.

Can make this into a game or challenge to where you challenge yourself to get more done in less time to improve your productivity.

Online timers have bells or other sounds that can help you use the Pomodoro Technique (15- to 30-minute work periods followed by 3- to 5-minute rest periods three times, then after the fourth 15- to 30-minute work period, a 15- to 30-minute rest period).

Chapter 1: Quiet Your Mind And Focus

In order to become more productive, we need to accomplish more tasks and work in less time. We need to be more proficient in our work to accomplish more. In many cases, people fail to be productive because they lose focus and let their minds wander, leading to them losing their train of thought and having to refocus on the task at hand, wasting valuable time and potentially leading to mistakes in their work, which can cause an even greater loss of productivity.

Therefore, it is key to focus your mind on the task at hand and block out all other distractions and thoughts that are unrelated to the task at hand. You need to have total focus on the task at hand so that you can complete the work at a high level in the shortest amount of time possible. Any other thoughts unrelated to the task at hand, including thoughts about future tasks or thoughts about issues outside of work, need to be put aside and dealt with later.

Failure to put aside thoughts unrelated to the task at hand will only slow you down and lead to a higher probability of mistakes. In other words, you will be less productive and take longer to complete the task at hand. You may be wondering, “How exactly do I quiet my mind and focus?”

First, you need to get a good night’s sleep every night. Studies have shown that people are able to focus and concentrate better when they get to 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night. Failure to get that amount of sleep will lead to people being more irritable, less focused, andmore likely to have their minds wander off and think about other things. If you’re fighting your own fatigue while trying to handle a critical task, chances are high it will take you longer to complete it at a high level and more likely you’ll make critical mistakes while doing it, taking even longer to correct them and get the product/service out to market.

Second, you need to not let other issues or problems bother you. If you are having issues at work or at home, you need to address them directly at a time other than when you are working on the project. If you are having an issue with your boss or another employee, you need to set up a time to take it up with him/her directly away from the project. If you are having an issue at home, you need to take it up with your significant other, children, or friend away from work. If you are worried about something, you need to talk with someone about the issue or problem you’re worried about if you can’t calm yourself down and not worry about that issue yourself.

The main point is that you must clear your mind and focus on the task at hand, and ONLY the task at hand to ensure you complete the work required at the highest level and in the shortest amount of time possible. If you cannot do this, your productivity will be lower, and your work will have a higher chance of having mistakes in it. In the next chapter, you will learn the basic ingredients of productivity and how they can help you to become more productive.
