Chapter 1: What Facebook is all about Nowadays Everybody knows what Facebook is, even people that do not use it know what it is. This is because Facebook has transformed from a niche social site for college students to the largest and most widely used social media platform in the world. Yet in spite of its social media tag, Facebook has become a platform that appeals both to regular people and to businesses, because it has something in store for everybody. Let's find out what it is that makes it so valuable in the online world.

Facebook for Social Facebook is primarily a social media network designed specifically for social interaction. What differentiates Facebook from other social networks, and what has made it so special is the plethora of easy to use features that allows people from all around the world to find and interact with like-minded people even when they are separated by regional and cultural barriers. Facebook allows people to create online profiles complete with personal photos and pictures to showcase socially centered occurrences, where people can list their interests and preferences, as well as post their contact information, so others can get in touch with them. The site’s popularity, combined with all these features, has made it the perfect platform to locate long-lost friendships and to meet new friends. Facebook is also a great venue for entertainment for people from all walks of life, because they can use the platform to play games, to live chat with Facebook friends and to share video content. Some of the most popular social features offered by the Facebook platform include photo albums that can be shared with friends and with other people, comments on other people’s profiles, and Facebook “groups” which are often used by families and groups of friends as hubs to share content privately. Facebook for Business Facebook is an attractive platform for businesses, too, because it offers companies, organizations and businesses of all types to reach an audience of almost 2 billion people in any given month, which is not only important for revenue, but also for building brand awareness. Facebook can easily help any type of business stand out big time, thanks to the high rates of user engagement with brands that have a presence in the platform. This is because Facebook is a way more interactive platform than a business website would ever dream to be due to its very social nature. Businesses can have their own Facebook profiles by creating a Facebook page. Facebook pages are designed to allow businesses, companies, brands, organizations, artists and other entities, have a window to interact with users in the most popular social network there is. Businesses with Facebook Pages can upload content to the platform the same way that any regular user would, with the added benefit of allowing businesses to promote and market their products and services with laser sharp precision thanks to its meticulously built advertising platform!

Chapter 2: What Business Goals can you accomplish with Facebook?

Every business has business goals to accomplish, and every business goal will vary from one business to another.

While the truth is that the ultimate goal of any business is to make money, there are other important goals to accomplish before a business is able to become fully profitable.

The main goal of a roofing business can be to build a presence and reach as many local clients as possible within its service area, and the main goal of a new fast food joint could be to get discovered by people from foreign areas, so they can visit their restaurants on holidays, to give you a few examples.

Beating Spyware And Malware On Your System Resale Rights Ebook

Chapter 1

What is Spyware?

It is normal to see pop-up ads while surfing the net, right? What a lot of people don’t realize is that those ads could have made their way onto their computers through spyware. By the time that you figure out what is behind the ads, the spyware pop-ups may have gotten so bad that your only choice is to completely reconfigure your computer and just hope that the pop-ups don’t come back. And, if your only mechanism to fight against the spyware is hope, the pop-up ads will return.

What is Spyware Exactly?

Spyware is a type of software which gets onto your computer and is generally used to gather your personal information and then send advertisements to you, normally in the form of a pop-up ad. Spyware software can also change your computer configuration as well as many other potentially harmful things. Even though the term spyware may suggest that the software is simply monitoring action in a secretive way, the purpose of spyware usually goes well beyond this. The party responsible for creating and distributing the spyware are often profiting greatly through targeted advertising or selling off your personal information.

When spyware software is on a computer, it generally is hidden from the user. In 2005, a study carried out by AOL and the National Cyber-Security Alliance showed that 61% of user’s computers were infected with spyware. Of all of these users, 92% of them were not aware that their computers were even infected. 91% of the users claimed that they had not granted permission for the spyware software to be installed. Since then, spyware has become increasingly sophisticated and is often impossible to detect on a user’s computer. Even worse, once detected, some spyware is impossible to remove.

Difference between Spyware and Adware

The terms spyware and adware are often used interchangeably. Both of these terms are used to describe software which can display advertisements. However, there is one major difference between these two: spyware gets onto the user’s computer through illicit means.

With adware, the user agrees to have the adware program installed in exchange for something else. For example, the program Eudora will allow users access to shareware for free but they must agree to receive advertisements. The key word here is “agree.” Adware will not attempt to mislead users and is offered in exchange for a service.

An example of adware includes the file sharing program Eudora. Rather than asking users to pay a registration fee, it asks them to agree to receive advertisements. On the other hand, Gator software is a type of spyware. When users visit certain websites, spyware is installed on the users’ computer through some sort of deceptive manner. The company behind Gator as well as the website where the spyware was installed will both receive revenue.

Chapter 2

How is Spyware different from

Viruses &Worms?

Today, there are an incalculable number of “health” problems that a computer can be at risk for. Generally, these risks can be broken down into spyware, viruses and worms. It is easy to confuse these different types of computer problems because they have many similarities.

Spyware, viruses and worms all get onto a user’s computer with permission or by using deceptive means. Once on the computer, they cause harm to the computer and impair functions. Spyware, viruses and worms are all designed to be difficult, if not impossible, to detect. They often are designed in a certain way that prohibits them from being removed in normal manners. Recently, there have been many viruses and worms which have been, as spyware is, created for profit.

Compared to viruses and worms, spyware is a relatively new problem. Viruses have been around since the 1980s and worms almost as long. Spyware didn’t become a major issue until 2000.

The major difference between spyware and viruses and worms is that spyware doesn’t seek to replicate once on your computer. It also doesn’t seek to infect other computers. Both viruses and worms, on the other hand, actively replicate themselves and can spread to other computers through means such as email.

Another big difference between spyware, viruses and worms is objective. Spyware is always used for some form of monetary gain such as through advertisements. Modern viruses and worms can also be used for monetary gain. However, viruses and worms are often created in an attempt to gain fame.

Some virus and worm creators have claimed their motivation was to show how far virus creation has advanced. Other creators desire to “outdo” the creators of anti-virus and anti-worm software. As in the case with the Bagel and Netsky viruses, the creators of the viruses wanted to outdo each other.

Additionally, viruses and worms are often created specifically to do damage to a computer through a type of web espionage. An example of this is the Conflicker worm which spread in 2008. It made its way into the defense systems of France and Britain as well as about 15 million computers around the world and creating severe damage to the computers’ health. Spyware, however, does not want to cause severe damage to the computer. That is because it relies on the computer’s health in order to send advertisements to users.

Is there a Spy-Vir-Orm Hybrid?

It is getting increasingly difficult to distinguish between spyware, viruses and worms. As all three of these computer health issues become increasingly sophisticated, they have taken on properties of one another and often rely upon one another for functioning.

There are many instances when spyware is spread through a virus or visa versa. There are also many instances of spyware, worms or viruses creating openings for other types of harm to enter a user’s computer. Because of this crossover between the spyware, viruses and worms, it is important that countermeasures are taken against all forms of computer infections.

Split Testing Profits PLR Ebook

The Importance of Split Testing

Split testing is a method for comparing two different versions of a landing page to determine which version performs better.

Split testing should NEVER be a one-time experiment. It's important to keep running new split tests, so you can continue to improve your sales and profits.

Setting up a split test is very easy to do. You simply need to determine what element you wish to test on your landing page first.

Always be sure you only test one element at a time for your split test. Otherwise, you won’t be sure which changes you made resulted in a specific improvement.

For example, start by testing the headline. Using your current headline as the control, duplicate your landing page and create a new headline variation for the test.

The headline is the single most important element to test and can result in HUGE improvements in your conversion rate.

Other important elements you can test one by one are your landing page layout, website colors, images, call to action, price, guarantee, etc.

The list goes on and on, but those are some important ones to consider first.

In order to gain statistical confidence in your test, it’s advised that you send at least 300 unique visitors to each landing page. Some marketers even prefer a higher baseline number, such as 500 unique visitors to each landing page.

However, it should be noted that some split tests may produce an extreme difference in the results and if one page is performing very poorly, then you may consider ending the split test early.

Nobody likes to waste traffic. If you have a clear winner early, then you may choose to end the split test, so you can maximize your ROI. This is especially true if you’re using paid advertising to generate traffic.

Once your split test has achieved statistical confidence, it's time to analyze your results. The essential metrics you'll be tracking and analyzing are unique visitors, conversions and conversion rate.

Your conversions are automatically calculated based on the number of people that reach your “thank you” page. This conversion could be an email opt-in, a sale or some other metric you wish to track.

Your conversion rate is based on how many unique visitors arrived at your landing page compared to the number of actual conversions you received. This will be expressed as a percentage.

The importance of running split tests can’t be understated.

Most Internet marketers and online business owners don’t take the time to do any split testing and therefore leave a lot of money on the table.

I’ve personally seen split test results that have increased profits over 400%! This can literally mean the difference between success and failure, especially if you rely on paid advertising as a primary source of traffic generation.

So, if you want to grow and scale your Internet business the fastest and most efficient way, it’s absolutely vital that you add split testing to your marketing arsenal.

Take a look how a slight boost in your conversion rate can have a dramatic change in your results...

Just imagine if you're selling a product or service for $97. Increasing your conversion rate only 5% would give you a MASSIVE $4,850 boost in profits!

How To Get And Stay Motivated

There are plenty of articles, books and blog posts on motivation that tell you how to become more motivated. Often, they give tips like ‘getting more sleep’ and ‘introducing new habits slowly’.

These ideas are all useful to an extent but they ultimately fall short. If you struggle with motivation and can’t keep yourself focused on new tasks, then a tip like this isn’t going to transform your ability to focus overnight.

And if you struggle to motivate yourself, how are you expected to keep up the changes that lead to greater motivation? It’s something of a vicious circle don’t you think?

If you really want to see changes, then you need to look a little deeper. You need to focus on the actual neuroscience that underpins our ability to get and stay motivated. In this report, you’ll learn exactly how motivation actually works on a biologically level and more importantly, you’ll discover how you can manipulate that process to your own ends…

Introducing the Salience Network

What we’re interested in here is what neuroscientists and psychologists refer to as ‘attentional control’ or ‘executive attention’. This describes the ability we have to direct our attention and hold it – the control we have over what we choose to focus on and what we choose to ignore.

So how does this work? It comes down to several frontal regions within the brain that control this function. Perhaps most notable is the anterior cingulate cortex which has been the result of a fair amount of research.

In fact though, attention is controlled by two separate networks of brain regions in the brain: areas that work together in order to get the desired result. Specifically, these networks are referred to as the ‘dorsal attention network’ which includes brain regions that run along the top of the brain (dorsal means ‘top’ in biology – hence ‘dorsal fin’) and the ‘ventral attention network’ (which runs along the bottom). Understanding these two different attention networks is key because they have different purposes that clue us in on how to get superior attention. The dorsal attention network is concerned with our intentional attention (bit of a tongue twister). In other words, when you decide that you want to focus on a book for a while, or you choose to check the time, you are using the dorsal network.

The ventral attention network meanwhile is used when our attention is directed beyond our control in a reflexive manner. In other words, when you hear a loud bang and you turn to look at it, that is your ventral attention network.

But your ventral attention network can also be distracted by a range of other biological clues. If you are hungry for instance, then your ventral attention network will begin to direct your attention toward getting food and if you are tired, then your ventral attention network will direct your attention that way.

So, if you’re trying to get work done and things keep stealing your attention away, then it is going to be hard for you to maintain your attention!

The next question we need to ask is how the brain knows what to pay attention to. The answer comes down to yet another neural network called the ‘salience network’. This network tells us what is important and what isn’t and it appears to be very closely connected to our ability to motivate ourselves.

In other words, those with the ability to tell their brain what is really important will be able to stay focussed on work, they’ll be able to run longer distances and they’re be able to stay intensely focussed during competition.

But if you weren’t born with a powerful salience network, then what can you do to fix the situation?

Taking Back Control

How does the salience network work? What does it deem as important?

The answer comes down to our evolutionary history. Every aspect of our psychology evolved the way it did in order to help us survive. Traits that proved conducive to our long-term survival would be passed on to our offspring and those that did not, would eventually die out.

Thus, the job of this network is to alert us to things that are important for our survival – which is based on biological signals from the body and our associations. If you see a lion, then your salience network will identify this as important, it will trigger the ventral attention network and this will direct your attention there.

The result will be that your parasympathetic nervous system kicks in and triggers a hormonal and neurochemical response: you’ll produce adrenaline, dopamine, cortisol and norepinephrine and these chemicals will raise the heartrate contract your muscles and narrow your attention to that one thing.

To a lesser extent, this happens if you’re hungry, too hot, too cold, or if you are stressed about something else whether that be debt, your relationship or anything else.

The first thing you need to do then to improve your ability to focus and stay motivated, is to ensure that you remove these distractions that can override your dorsal attention network. This means you need to create a working environment that will be free from distractions and that makes you as comfortable as possible.

Any loud noise, any discomfort, any hunger or any lingering stress can potentially make it hard for you to maintain your focus.

One trick that you can use in order to encourage a more focussed state of mind to this end, comes from WordPress creator Matt Mullenweg. He described to Tim Ferriss during a podcast interview, how he would listen to music he knew well on repeat. The music would play over and over again and he would become immensely familiar with it. As a result, the brain would then start to phase that music out. In other words, it would become desensitized to it, just as you eventually stop hearing the ticking of the clock. Only if you are listening to that music through headphones, it will drown out all other sound.

This effectively creates a kind of sensory deprivation. The only sound there is, is completely blocked out by the brain. You can achieve something similar by using white noise and this is something that many people will use in order to focus while working. Similar to white noise are other innocuous sounds, such as the rain or background chatter. Rainymood.com and coffitivity.com are both sites that provide these kinds of looping sounds for you to block out your surroundings. Similarly, using a widescreen monitor can help you to stay more focussed on work. Studies show that widescreen monitors can increase productivity by up to 30%!

But the most important thing you can do is to try and remove all other stress from your mind. That means that you need to try and stop worrying about your debt and even about the other work you have to do that day. If you are worrying about those things, then your brain will keep being distracted away from what you need to do. So, try to learn to block out feelings of stress and anxiety and to just focus on the task that is in hand. This may take practice, but this works much like a muscle – the more you train your mind, the greater the control you will get over it.

Facebook Ad Templates Personal Use Ebook

Facebook Ad Templates

According to recent stats, Facebook has 1.94 billion users. Although there aren’t official numbers released, it’s estimated that Facebook makes over 4 billion dollars each year from advertising. These two stats mean that Facebook is the ideal place to advertise your business.

How Facebook Ads Are Displayed

There are a few different sections of Facebook where your ads can be seen. The three most common ad locations are in the user’s news feed, within the user’s mobile app, and on the right side of the user’s screen (only relevant to desktop users). Here are some examples of ad placement:

Your ads may be featured on the mobile app or Messenger within Instant Articles, which is Facebook’s content platform. It could also be displayed during videos like Facebook Live or Video on Demand.

You can preview how various ads appear by checking out the Facebook Ads Guide. It breaks down each element of the ad so you can easily visualize what your ad would look like:

You can click on the options above the red arrow to preview what different advertisements would look like.

How to Target Your Facebook Ads

There are plenty of business owners that complain about not making money from their advertisements. They may tell you that Facebook ads are a waste of time and money. They might say that they never broke even on their costs.

But the majority of people criticizing didn’t know how to use the platform correctly and that’s why they never saw a return on their investment. The power of ads on Facebook lies in the ability to target users.

Demographics

Facebook lets you to target users by their demographics such as gender, age, education level, and politics.

You can choose to have your ads shown to people who meet certain behaviors. For example, you can target an ad toward men or women who have a marriage anniversary coming up in the next 90 days. That can be helpful for flower shops or jewelry brands looking to advertise.

You can target users by location. If you own a local food market, you might want to target customers who just moved to the area since they may not be aware of your store. The same is true of other service-based businesses like hair salons or spas.

Interests

Another way you can narrow down your audience is to check their interests. You can have Facebook ads displayed to users who are interested in fitness, business, or any other niche you choose. This increases the chances that the people who see your ad may actually click through to your website.

Uploading Your Customer List

You can target your Facebook ads to your customer list. Since these users have already made a purchase from you, they already know and like your brand. All you have to do is remind them about your products and that’s easy to do with Facebook.

Gathering Lookalike Audiences

Facebook can look at your current fans and followers to determine what they have in common. Then the Facebook ads manager begins to search for users who have similar interests and matches them for you. This means you spend less time defining your demographic and more time focusing on your business.

Retargeting Website Visitors

If you’re not familiar with the phrase ‘retargeting visitors’, it means showing the user an advertisement for a product that they researched or clicked on previously. For example, one potential customer visits your website and clicks on a beautiful blouse. She’s not quite ready to make the purchase yet. She just wanted to do some initial research.

With retargeting, you can make the same blouse appear in the potential customer’s social media account. Now, she’s had some time to think over the purchase. She clicks through your advertisement onto your website and buys the item. That’s how retargeting works.

Facebook allows you to retarget your visitors so you can encourage them to buy your product. This is a smart idea because most customers have to be exposed to a product or brand multiple times before they make a purchase.

Tips for Advertising Effectively on Facebook

Before you spend money on a Facebook advertisement, sit down and think about what your goal is for this ad. Do you want to raise brand awareness? Get users to subscribe to your newsletter? Buy your product?

If you’re not sure, look at your business. What are you currently focused on? Have you recently released a new product and are busy promoting it? Are you working on growing your mailing list of potential leads? When you know what you’re doing with your ad, then it’s more likely to succeed.

Focus on the location of your advertisement. Some brands think they’ll get more for their advertising bucks with if they treat their tiny right side advertisement the same as they would an ad in the news feed. This can result in headlines that are too long and pictures that are difficult to see. Since the ad isn’t properly formatted, it doesn’t perform very well.

Headlines are one of the most important elements on your Facebook ad. Yet many businesses and brands only include a headline as an afterthought. Without an engaging headline, users will just keep scrolling.

Financing Your Childs School Year PLR Ebook

Financing Your Child's School Year

According to Huntington Bank’s Backpack Index, in 2015 parents paid on average over one grand per child in school expenses, fees, and supplies (https://huntington-ir.com/ne/news/hban072915.htm). High school can be as much as $1500 per year for each student depending on the activates they’re involved in.

It’s clear that public school isn’t free after all, so what is a parent on a limited budget to do about it? The first thing to do is to accept it, and the next thing to do is to plan for it. If you’re a low-income parent, keep reading; there will be options and resources for you too.

Items You’ll Likely Be Responsible For in Public School

You may be surprised to learn about how much each parent is expected to buy for each child in school. Much of this is due to less funding for public schools and also simply technological advances and an unwillingness for local governments to raise taxes to pay for the additional expenses.

* Books – Often you will need to pay book fees for your child to get to use the books at school. Some schools now have the option of electronic books that your child will keep on a tablet, but others still have regular books.

Each district and school within the district is often very different. The fees can be as little as a hundred dollars per child, and in some cases, much more. A parent in Indiana reported spending more than a thousand dollars in book fees for her five kids: https://indianapublicmedia.org/stateimpact/2014/09/24/textbook-fees/
So, remember, it all adds up.

* Uniforms – Many public schools require that students wear their uniform. This can become an additional expense for parents that they weren’t planning for, with each uniform costing upwards of $100. And your child will need more than one to be clean. Even schools that do not require uniforms have outfits they expect your child to buy for gym class or PE.

* Instruments – If your child will be in any type of music program, you’ll be responsible for buying or renting the instruments. Depending on which one your child ends up playing (which without having lessons already they won’t get to pick on their own), it can cost thousands or on average $100 a month to rent from a local rent shop.

* Electronics – Some schools require that your child has a laptop or tablet or both. It depends on your area. Often the schools supply them, but charge a fee for using them. You can usually use your own if they’re approved by the school too. So, if your child already has these devices, ask if they can use theirs to avoid that fee.

* General Supplies – Today, through middle school, (and some high schools), most parents are being asked to provide general supplies such as hand sanitizer, paper towels, art supplies, toilet paper, and more to help keep the school full of supplies throughout the year.

* Activity Fees – If your child is involved in any type of activity, even field day, there is likely to be a fee involved that is going to be paid up front at the start of the year. In some cases, such as band, football, cheer and those types of activities, it can cost hundreds of dollars a month per child to be involved.

* Classroom Fees – Certain classes that have extra equipment such as science class may require an additional classroom fee, to help pay for the maintenance of the class and the equipment needed to conduct the class correctly.

* Parking Fees – If your high school student wants to drive to school, a parking pass can put you back a couple hundred dollars. This is true even in districts that don’t have a good bussing system.

* Bussing Fees – Some school districts have buses but charge parents a monthly fee for each child that takes a bus. These fees can range from 100 dollars a year to even a couple thousand a year, depending on where you live.

* Testing Fees – To pass dual credit classes or honors classes and get college credit for them, your child will have to pay a testing fee. These range from $100 dollars and less per honors test. While this isn’t directly related to your school, it is an important thing to consider as soon as you can. The tests for college entrance aren’t free. Neither is applying to a college. Everyone has to pay a fee for the test, and everyone pays a fee for each college application.

It can truly be overwhelming to realize that public school isn’t free. The best thing you can do is to find out how your school works before your child goes to the school, so you will be prepared. You can call the school the year before your child is to go, and ask them about costs in relation to the things your child wants to be involved in.

Don’t call during busy times such as the first day of the school year or the end of the school year. They should be happy to send you current information, realizing that it will probably be more expensive the following year. If you can’t get information this way, ask friends with older kids to clue you in.

How to Create a Budget with School Expenses in Mind

Once you know what is expected of you as a parent of a public-school student, it’ll be a lot easier to budget for it. Find out what last year’s list was. Contact any specialty classes to find out the fees if you can’t get the information from the admin office of the school.

You’ll need to know everything that your child may need, plus the extras as mentioned before - such as whether your child will be in a band, sports, choir or other activities. Whatever figure you come up with, multiply it by 1.5 so you’ll have a buffer, then multiply it by how many kids you’ll have in school.

Including the above, let’s make a list of the potential expenses for your child’s public school journey.

Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone! Yachts Aren’t for Everyone!

Owning a yacht is by no means a small financial venture. Yachts can range in price from a few thousand dollars to basically unlimited. It’s not rare to see them auctioning for more than a few million dollars. Even if you opt for a less expensive yacht you have to consider maintenance.

Every year you can expect to spend about 10% of the total price of your yacht in maintenance. A Yacht is a type of boat; as such it will be in the water for most of its life. Constant contact with the elements and with water takes its toll. This is amplified ten-fold if you have your yacht on sea water. Salt and other minerals wreak absolute havoc on the exterior of the yacht as well as the mechanical components inside.

Aside from initial cost and maintenance, you get to worry about licenses and permits to use your yacht depending on where you live. If you’re yacht is bound for sea, you’ll probably want to have a port to keep it at. Most of these places will have a monthly rate of around $15/ft. and usually have a minimum (such as 30 ft. minimum). For an average-sized yacht of 45ft you’re looking at $675 a month, just for your yacht to have a place to stay!

Before you decide if owning a yacht is really for you, make sure you consider the financial and logistical challenges that lay ahead. Owning a yacht is an extremely fun and rewarding experience that you’ll enjoy for years to come. All the same, if you’re not financially or mentally prepared to own and maintain a yacht, it could be a decision you end up regretting some time down the road. If you’re sure that you are fully prepared to enter the world of yacht ownership, or at least yacht enthusiasm, then let’s get started! We’ll start at the bare-bones basics and before you know it you’ll be a veritable expert on what a yacht is, how you can buy or rent one and where you should take it once you get it!

What is a Yacht? What is a Yacht? What is a Yacht? What is a Yacht? What is a Yacht? What is a Yacht? What is a Yacht?

A yacht is a recreational boat, often of a luxury variety. The term originated from the Dutch Jacht meaning "hunt.” It was originally defined as a light, fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries. After its selection by Charles II of England as the vessel of choice to return to Britain from Holland for his restoration, it came to be used to convey important persons.

In modern use the term designates two rather different classes of watercraft, sailing and power boats. Yachts are different from working ships mainly by their leisure purpose, and it was not until the rise of the steamboat and other types of powerboat that sailing vessels in general came to be perceived as luxury, or recreational vessels. Later the term came to encompass motor boats for primarily private pleasure purposes as well.

Yacht lengths generally range from 20 feet up to hundreds of feet. A luxury craft that is smaller than 40 feet is more commonly called a cabin cruiser or simply a "cruiser." A mega yacht generally refers to any yacht (sail or power) above 100 ft. and a super yacht generally refers to any yacht over 200 ft. This size is small in relation to typical cruise liners and oil tankers.

History

Yacht (pronounced like “Yott” where it rhymes with “pot”) was originally defined as a light, fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries. They were also used for non-military governmental roles such as customs duties and delivering pilots to waiting ships. The latter use attracted the attention of wealthy Dutch merchants who began to build private yachts so they could be taken out to greet their returning ships.

Soon wealthy individuals began to use their 'Jachts' for pleasure trips. By the start of the 17th century 'Jachts' came in two broad categories- speel-jachts for sport and oorlog-jachts for naval duties. By the middle of the century large 'jacht' fleets were found around the Dutch coast and the Dutch states organized large 'reviews' of private and war yachts for special occasions, thus putting in place the groundwork for the modern sport of yachting. Jachts of this period varied greatly in size, from around 40 ft. in length to being equal to the lower classes of the ship of the line. All had a form of fore/aft gaff rig with a flat bottom and lee boards to allow operations in shallow waters. The gaff rig remained the principal rig found on small European yachts for centuries until giving way to the 'Bermudan sloop' rig in the 1960s.

Charles II of England spent part of his time in exile during the period of the Commonwealth of England in the Netherlands and became keen on sailing. He returned to England in 1660 aboard a Dutch yacht. During his reign Charles commissioned 24 Royal Yachts on top of the two presented to him by Dutch states on his restoration. As the fashion for yachting spread throughout the English aristocracy yacht races began to become common. Other rich individuals in Europe built yachts as the sport spread. Yachting therefore became a purely recreational form of sailing with no commercial or military function, which still serves a broad definition of both the sport and of the vessel.

How Are Yachts Made?

Until the 1950s, almost all yachts were made of wood or steel, but a much wider range of materials is used today. Although wood hulls are still in production, the most common construction material is fiberglass, followed by aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, and ferro-cement (rarer because of insurance difficulties). The use of wood has changed and is no longer limited to traditional board-based methods, but also includes modern products such as plywood, veneers and epoxy resins. Wood is mostly used by hobbyists or wooden boat purists when building an individual boat.

Classifications of Yachts

Sailing yachts

Sailing yachts can range in overall length (Length Over All—LOA, in yachting parlance) from about 20 ft. to well over 100 ft., where the distinction between a yacht and a ship becomes blurred. Most privately owned yachts fall in the range of about 25–45 ft.; the cost of building and keeping a yacht rises quickly as length increases. In the U.S., sailors tend to refer to smaller yachts as sailboats, while referring to the general sport of sailing as yachting. Within the limited context of sailboat racing, a yacht is any sailing vessel taking part in a race, regardless of size.

Modern yachts have efficient sail-plans, most notably the Bermuda rig, that allows them to sail towards the wind. This capability is the result of a sail-plan and hull design.

Day sailing yachts

Day sailing yachts are usually small, at less than 20 ft. in length. Sometimes called dinghies, they often have a retractable keel, centerboard, or dagger board. Most day-sailing yachts do not have a cabin, as they are designed for hourly or daily use and not for overnight journeys. At best they may have a 'cubby', where the front part of the hull has a raised solid roof to provide a place to store equipment or to offer basic shelter from wind or spray.

Weekender yachts

Weekender yachts are slightly larger, at less than 30 ft. in length. They often have twin keels or lifting keels such as in trailer sailors. This allows them to operate in shallow waters, and if needed "dry out"—become beached as the tide falls. The hull shape (or twin-keel layout) allows the boat to sit upright when there is no water. Such boats are designed to undertake short journeys, rarely lasting more than 2 or 3 days (hence their name).

In coastal areas, long trips may be undertaken in a series of short hops. Weekenders usually have only a simple cabin, often consisting of a single "saloon" with beds pace for two to three people. Clever use of ergonomics allows space in the saloon for a galley (kitchen), seating, and navigation equipment. There is limited space for stores of water and food.

Most are single-misted "Bermuda sloops" (not to be confused with the type of traditional Bermudian ship known as a Bermuda sloop), with a single foresail of the jib or genoa type and a single mainsail (one variation of the aforementioned Bermuda rig). Some are gaff rigged. The smallest of this type, generally called pocket yachts or pocket cruisers, and trailer sailors can be transported on special trailers.

Cruising yachts

Cruising yachts are by the far the most common yacht in private use, making up most of the 25 to 45 ft. range. These vessels can be quite complex in design, as they need a balance between docile handling qualities, interior space, good light-wind performance and on-board comfort. The huge range of such craft, from dozens of builders worldwide, makes it hard to give a single illustrative description. However, most favor a teardrop-planform hull, with a wide, flat bottom and deep single-fin keel to give good stability. Most are single-masted Bermuda rigged sloops, with a single fore-sail of the jib or Genoa type and a single mainsail.

Spinnaker sails, in various sizes, are often supplied for down-wind use. These types are often chosen as family vessels, especially those in the 26 to 40-foot range. Such a vessel will usually have many cabins below deck. Typically there will be three double-berth cabins; a single large saloon with galley, seating and navigation equipment; and a "head" consisting of a toilet and shower-room.

Most large yachts, 50 ft. and up, are also cruisers, but their design varies greatly as they are often "one off" designs tailored to the specific needs of the buyer. The interior is often finished in wood paneling, with plenty of storage space. Cruisers are quite capable of taking on long-range passages of many thousands of miles. Such boats have a cruising speed upwards of 6 knots. This basic design is typical of the standard types produced by the major yacht-builders.

Introduction

SEO is a complex topic that requires a lot of research and work. Not only do you have to work hard to get to the top of the SERPs, but you have to work hard to stay there, as well.

But how do you know if your efforts are really working? If you’re targeting dozens, even hundreds of keywords or more, how can you possibly keep up with whether or not your rankings are going up, staying the same, or even slipping?

Think about this:

Let’s say you’re trying to lose weight. You go on a diet and start exercising, but you have no measuring tape and no scale to track your results. You might see occasional signs that you’re actually losing weight, like your pants fitting a bit looser, but without real results staring you in the face, you’re likely to lose motivation. You might even give up entirely.

The same thing can happen in SEO. You might see occasional signs that your rankings are improving, such as jumps in traffic, but that could be due to anything from getting a post on social media to some sort of seasonal boost in search traffic. It doesn’t necessarily mean your rankings have changed.

You need tools to help you keep track of your rankings. These tools can track your rank over time, showing you whether you are gaining, losing, or retaining rank. Not only that, but these tools can track many different keywords at a time, which would be very difficult and time consuming to do manually.

So let’s take a look at some of the different tools you can use to track your SEO results.

Types of Rank Trackers

There are two main types of tools you can use to check your SEO rankings—desktop and online. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages, so let’s take a look at what makes each type tick.

Desktop Trackers

The main advantage of desktop trackers is that if you’re working with a huge number of keywords, they may be the best option because a lot of online trackers limit the number of keywords you can track, or charge more for larger numbers of keywords.

The problem is that if you’re using a desktop tracker from your own IP address, the searches engines may ban your IP address temporarily for doing too many searches in a short timeframe. This necessitates the use of proxies.

Another benefit of desktop trackers is that they often cost a flat, one-time fee, while most online services charge an ongoing monthly fee to pay for the cost of all those searches. That can really add up over time, so running a desktop tracker can be cost effective, however once you add in the cost of a proxy service, the cost may not be all that much less than just paying for an online service.

Online Tools

While online tools may end up becoming expensive if you have to track a lot of keywords, you won’t risk your own IP address getting banned, and you can track as many keywords as you need to (as long as you’re willing to pay the monthly fee.)

Now let’s take a look at some of the specific tools you can use to track your rankings.

Another benefit of online tools is that they will work on nearly every computer out there, and many will even work on a tablet because they work in a browser. No specific OS required.

Desktop Tools

We’ll look at desktop tools first, because those are generally more affordable and most have the advantage of allowing you to track an unlimited number of keywords.

Rank Tracker (PC, Mac, Linux)

Rank Tracker is a desktop program that is available for all major operating systems, including Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Rank Tracker will keep track of your rankings in over 400 search engines, even in foreign markets, and without any limitations whatsoever. There is no extra cost for more search engines or more keywords. It can even be set to do this on autopilot at whatever frequency you choose.

Not only will it check your ranks, it will also help you research keywords, build and manage links, research your backlinks and competition, audit your website content, and even manage your social media.

There’s a 7-day trial, but the software itself starts at $299 for the Professional version, which is fine for most website owners. It’s pricey, but it can save you money over the long run when you factor in many months of service from an online service that has a monthly fee.

EZ Rank Tracker (PC)

EZ Rank Tracker is for PC only, comes with a wide range of features, and is one of the most affordable solutions out there. You can track your rank in 188 Google domains and have an unlimited number of projects and keywords, as well as track social signals and website stats and more.

Pricing is $19.99 per month or $99.99 for lifetime.

Online Tools

Online tools will probably cost you more over the years, because all those monthly fees really do add up. However, their services can be absolutely invaluable, so if you can afford them, this is one area where you may want to splurge for your business.

I’m going to rank these according to price, from cheapest to most expensive. Those that cost more are generally richer in features, but if you’re just getting started, you may not be able to spend so much for month.

Keep in mind that the results you get with one system will likely NOT transfer if you move to another system, so if you start with a cheaper one you may lose a lot of tracking data.

With the paid list, I’m ordering these by their lowest price point. Some of the options with lower entry-level prices have higher upper level pricing, but I’m ordering them by the lowest possible price you can pay. These prices may change any time, but they are accurate as of the time of this writing.

Google Webmaster Tools

FREE

The cheapest online rank tracking tool is, of course, Google Webmaster Tools. Their free Google Search Console will allow you to check basic information about your keyword rankings, but none it is done automatically, and it won’t give you very much information at all. But if you’re broke and have no other option, it’s better than nothing. You’ll just have to keep track of your rankings by checking manually and writing them down at regular intervals. Be sure to date each entry so you can tell how long it’s been since your ranking changed.

12-Point Checklist For Building an Online Business

Building an online business is never an easy task. Either if you are a business veteran or a beginner pursuing a dream, there are numerous challenges to overcome, trends to keep an eye on and a need for tremendous preparation. To make it at least a tiny bit easier, we decided to put together a 12-point checklist, covering all the essential steps for starting an online business.

1. The idea

The most crucial part of becoming an entrepreneur in the online business is to have at least a rough idea of what you could offer for your audience or customers. Are you thinking about offering a complex service? Would you like to generate revenue from an interesting topic and an audience? There are numerous business models out there, which you can follow and which can help you to visualize the future of your online business. Brokerage, advertising, infomediary or affiliate services are a few examples of online business types. With some research, you might find yourself coming up with an idea that fits one of these categories and seems like a real profitable one. On the other hand, if you are lucky enough to have at least a broad idea of what you would like to do, you are ready to move on to the second point.

2. Make ideas great again!

You wouldn't want to fall into the mistake of establishing a business, which offers services that nobody cares about. I know that you probably think that this isn't so, however, sometimes we can easily get carried away by our own "great" ideas. Your next step is to make sure that there is an actual need for the services that you would like to offer. How is this possible? Gather as much data as you can, ask people on the street, send out a bunch of emails to the ones who you think would be your target audience, run polls in online communities, etc.

All in all, try everything you can to get as close as possible to having a representative data. This will not only get you closer to confirming the "greatness" of your idea but will also help you to identify the real target audience. For example, if you create an online questionnaire and share it in a group chat, make sure to have people share their age and gender with you. This can be later used to narrow down your target audience.

Obviously, don't share your whole plan while talking to people, as you should be keeping your "great" idea to yourself. Share the most important aspects and features of your future product or service and have them rate your idea. It is even better if you ask for their email addresses, which help you create your initial email list. Not everyone will be interested or will be willing to share it with you, but it's a start!

3. Money, money, money

As mentioned earlier, there are numerous business models out there which you can follow with your next online business. However, picking one in the early phase is a must! You need to be aware of how will your future business generate revenue - and I'm not only talking about having a broad idea. No! You need to know the exact steps before setting up your business and throwing the whole idea out there. This will help you to stay on the top of your game, create your detailed business plan and most importantly, give you better chances at not failing - especially financially. If you will not be selling products, this can be tricky, so make sure to dedicate enough time to this topics. There are numerous solutions, so it's the best time to get back to the lab and start your research.

4. Take a look around

Okay. You have an idea, which seems to be interesting and also figured out a business model, that would generate constant revenue for your online business. Now it's time to turn the focus on the other players. Dig up everything on any other online companies, or solo entrepreneurs who are offering the same service as you will be. The chances are high that you will bump into a bunch of future competitors, where the best scenario is ending up with a few big names who are doing something similar. Why? Because it proves that your idea is already working - only it's making others successful at the moment and not you. Don't get nervous about discovering that your idea is already out there. In these cases, you can either get back to the first point and think of another one (not the easiest thing), or alter your present idea, so that it can offer something better, faster, cheaper, easier compared to your future competitors. Also, if it seems like that there are hundreds of others doing the same as you are planning to, don't simply just give up on your idea, but start thinking about how you could make it unique. Surely if there are hundreds like you, they were able to do the same, so why give up? The next point might come in handy in this case.

5. Analyze and learn

It's time to get back to the lab! Gather every detail that you can on your future competitors. Know them and know them well. If you are going to join the competition for online success, it is vital to know the business model of the others. How do they generate revenue? Who is the most successful? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What is their target audience? It might take considerable time but these insights are vital in the long run. Why? Because this can help you create value and transform your idea into an actual piece of art, that offers better capabilities compared to others. Furthermore, it helps you to make your future product or service: UNIQUE!

6. Uniqueness

If you have done your homework, you should be aware of the similar services out there. The information can help you to hone your future product or service and make it more unique. All the data that you have gathered in point five and two, will get you a bunch of vital insights on your target audience, the best business models out there, the various pricing possibilities, and on the unique functions, services or extras which are needed to differentiate your own service from your competitors. This is your way to uniqueness.

7. Branding

You have to look at your online business as a brand. The previous points can help you identify your message, and with a powerful message comes a strong brand. Think of the various aspects of branding strategies, from the smallest ones (picking the colors and fonts of your web page) to the more complex challenges (creating a logo or slogan). You might consider talking to a professional who can help you to create your own brand identity, which will make connecting easier. Once again, thorough research is indispensable and don't stop until at least you have a few sketches or names that seem to be catchy.

8. Online foundation

With all of these at hand, you should be ready to create the core of your online business, which consists of a well designed and attractive website, an email address, and social media profiles. You can set these up basically without launching the whole project, which gives you some buffer time to ensure that everything will go smoothly. Designing your website should be your top priority, as it will be your main tool to convert your readers/users/visitors into potential customers/subscribers. Make sure that your website has rockstar content, that helps you to connect with your audience and turn them into rabid fans.

How To Start a Blog For Profit

An Easy To Follow Blogging Guide For Beginners!

A blog needs to be monetized to generate revenue. It should be a successful blog with a growing base of subscribers to keep generating more revenue. Only then would you have a profitable blog. Any blog can be monetized but there may be no revenue. Any blog can have some revenue but only consistent and sustainable revenue over a period of time will ensure profit. The fact that anyone can start a blog with little or no capital, the availability of a plethora of free tools, the ease with which one can get started and equal access to the audience ensures only the best would win. The competition has never been this stiff.

In this comprehensive guide for beginners we lay out the simple steps one must take to start a blog for profit.

Setting up the Blog

You can design a website from scratch, which should be easy if you are a programmer. If you have no expertise in coding or website design, then you should consider a content management system like WordPress. WordPress is free and it is the most popular blogging platform today. The open source software which is used by more than a hundred million people can be hosted for free using the WordPress platform or you can host it on your own. You can opt for shared hosting or dedicated hosting.

You may have your own server and configure it to host a site if you know the technicalities. The best strategy is to go for a WordPress site and shared hosting. You can move to dedicated hosting in the future when you make more money as it is substantially more expensive than shared hosting.

Getting started with WordPress is pretty simple. You can download WordPress directly from the official site and start building your blog using the simple guidelines. Or, you can choose a webhost and a shared hosting plan that supports WordPress. The control panel of the hosting account will get you WordPress. Thereon you can build your blog from within the website builder offered by the webhost. Even as you pay for the shared hosting plan, WordPress would still be free. If you don’t wish to pay for hosting, opt for WordPress directly and use its free hosting platform. This will have its limitations in term of bandwidth, storage and site features but you can keep your initial investment contained.

The following steps will illustrate how you would start a WordPress blog using a webhost.

• Choose a webhost and a shared hosting plan. Go to the website of the webhost and sign up for the plan. Provide all the details you are asked for, get a domain name if you don’t have one already and make the payment to get access to your exclusive control panel. Most webhosts will offer a free domain with a shared hosting plan.

• Set up your account, choose the password, the features you want and check into the Site Builder section. You will get the WordPress icon. There will be many options in the Script List such as Backups, Utilities and Blogs. You would find WordPress in the Blogs section. Click it, get redirected it to the installation page and install it.

• Use your domain name and set up your WordPress site, the blog which will be blank at this stage. You would have to work on the layout, design, features including plug-ins and everything from font to the unique elements of your blog. Don’t worry as there are drag and drop options from WordPress and from most webhosts that you can use to create your blog. You don’t need to write a single line of code.

Monetization of the Blog

You could use your blog for paid blogging. There are companies and individuals that want their products, services or entities to be promoted. These would normally pay a price for every blog post. You could take this route or you can write about what really interests you and think of monetizing the blog using advertisements. You can consider affiliate marketing, which is essentially blogging to promote and endorse certain products or services. When the audience you are targeting or your readers check out the post and click on links redirecting them to the official pages of those products or services, you would get paid. There are programs paying you for every user that clicks on the links and gets redirected. Other programs pay you a handsome commission should the users sign up for the service or purchase the product after being redirected from your blog.

There are a few quintessential elements of starting a blog for profit.

• You need to attain popularity. You cannot make money when your blog doesn’t have any dedicated readership. You need a loyal audience that would keep returning to your blog and would keep checking out new contents that you upload. The audience cannot be limited to a few dozen people and it cannot be sporadic. You cannot rely on rerouted traffic. Your blog must be popular and obviously it would have its target audience. The target audience shouldn’t have to search for something and then get to your blog. They would follow your blog. You don’t need all those readers to become subscribers or commentators. As long as they follow your blog and repeatedly visit it, the blog can be monetized. An unpopular blog or one that doesn’t have a substantial readership can have ads or affiliate links but the monetization will not generate any revenue.

• You need consistent traffic as that will pave the way for advertisements, paid contents and promotions which will help you to make money with your blog. Without traffic, posting ads or optimizing new contents and sharing of the content will be futile. The nature of the traffic, the target audience and the kind of outreach a blog has along with the focus or the niche will determine the type of ads, promotions and paid contents. A blog shouldn’t lose its value or core in the process of monetization.

• There are many ways to make money with a blog. You could offer free content to entice the audience and then offer exclusive or academic content for those who want more information and would be willing to pay a subscription fee. You could just use the readership and get paid through ads, affiliate marketing links, sponsored banners and all kinds of product and service placements on every webpage of your blog. You need a strategy that will allow you to target your niche readership while monetizing the entire space available on every webpage of your blog. From banner ads to sponsored posts, affiliate links to promoted contents, pay per click ads to paid promotional posts; you should consider every prospect of monetizing.

Targeting Readership/Subscribers

Every blogger can get their friends and family to become the first subscribers. Sharing a few posts will get some lost social contacts to start following the blog but not everyone may be reading all your posts. No one can use their personal contacts and social connects to get the thousands of readers that one needs to actually monetize a blog for profit. You need to target a thousand subscribers or readers, then two thousand and then five thousand till you can grow enough to become a formidable blogger.

Let us first address how you should facilitate the signing up or following of new subscribers and readers.

• There should be social media plug-ins to facilitate immediate following, liking and sharing. There should be opt in sections where readers can provide their email address and sign up for the blog updates, newsletters or emails and other types of communications. Aside from the RSS feed and other obvious plug-ins you should have a simple popup asking if the reader or visitor will want to get notifications from the blog. This may happen on a traditional browser, mobile browser or via social network, media and apps. Notification has become an alternative to the conventional following.

• Don’t ask for more details than what you need. Social media plugins immediately connect visitors to the blog using their existing credentials. Use email authentication or social media authentication instead of asking for email address, first name and last name, city and other unnecessary details. Your blog is not building a database of readers. You simply need a following to get a substantial readership.

• Always have a call to action on every webpage. Many bloggers opt for standard calls to action, suggesting they share the post or like, comment or check out more posts. While these are acceptable, you should think of unique calls to action. Host polls, get people to agree or disagree, encourage readers to write counterpoints so you can take the discussion further. Every blog post can become an asset provided it has enough stuff to trigger a conversation and subsequent engagement with a larger audience. A blog post that doesn’t generate any traction is a waste of space and effort.

• Incentivize your followers to entice more. Offer something to your new readers so they would be inclined to follow you or become subscribers. Give something precious, which could be rare tips or some insider knowledge, to your existing readers so they continue to follow you and read what you post. Today, not many people are interested in following for the sake of following unless they get rewarded in some way.

You will use your social media profiles and presence on multiple social networks to get more readers or subscribers. That would still limit your outreach unless you take a few quintessential steps. These are to be factored in at the time of starting a blog because otherwise you would need to rethink everything, right from your blog layout to the kind of content you are penning down.
