I truly believe that I’m nothing exceptional, I’m truly not. I’m not the best writer, the fastest typist or the most talented person around, but I overcome all of this by taking action. I know for a fact if I can do something like this, then anyone with half an ounce of sense could leave me in the dust.

You absolutely can do this, even if you have your reservations and don’t think that you can create your own short reports. I’m here to tell you that you can.

Especially when you write stuff that you know. I’m a big believer if you write about things you have a passion for and things that truly interest you, you can write.

Your enthusiasm permeates the page and reaches out to your reader. Hav-ing written short reports for a while now I started off that way, but with a little practice you grow a new set of skills.

Just like developing an atrophied muscle, the more I wrote the more confi-dence I gained enabling me to branch out into other fields, and not neces-sarily areas I had a lot of knowledge and expertise in.

However by learning and researching, I quickly become adept at any niche I entered into and you will too.

So don’t think that because you feel you can’t write that you can’t do it, take it from someone who is not a writer, you can do it. If you don’t fancy the thought of writing your short reports yourself, there’s a solution for you too. Don’t worry, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

There is a niche out there on every topic imaginable, there’s one for you too, there’s room enough out there for everyone without having to be crammed shoulder to shoulder with your competitors.

To put it quite simply, personality is the sum total of your mental buildup and the way you behave. It is made up of the way you express yourself, the way you react to things, the way you perform your tasks and even the opinions that you have about things that happen around you. All these make up your personality.

Personality becomes a very important aspect of any individual. It is your personality that eventually tells people who you are. As humans, we are prone to create impressions in our mind about the people that we meet. Your personality is a very important factor in the kind of impression you generate for people around you. It is possible that even before you meet someone, they have heard about you and they have some kind of an idea what you are like. This happens because personality creates impressions… it actually stereotypes you.

You may feel this is wrong. After all, why should people think in advance about how you are going to behave? But that is the way we are. That is the way you are as well. Before meeting someone of the opposite gender, there is a likelihood that people will tell you about them. You then develop an impression about them. So, when you approach someone, you are almost never totally blank. You already have an idea of what kind of people they are.

That brings us to a very important aspect of our ultimate goal… how to make anyone fall in love with you within minutes.
And that aspect is… you have to work on your personality.

If you have a personality that is considered to be attractive, a personality that people are bound to appreciate, then you can rest easy. It is this kind of personality that will attract other people. They will want to hobnob with you. They will want to be seen with you. This is what creates the initial attraction.

It is your personality that brings people to you and keeps them drawn to you initially. After that, it depends on how you take it further. However, if you want the initial interest to be created, you have to make sure that you have a personality that can enamor people.

That will include not just your physique, but also the way you think, the way you dress and perhaps even the way you hold your fork and spoon when you are eating. Unknown to you, people are judging you whenever you are visible. One of the most important things in your agenda is to have a personality that people are willing to accept.

Obstinacy is generally a sign of inflexibility and ignorance. But when you come against it, particularly as part of a team that you are heading, you could well end up wanting to bang your head against a brick wall.

There is a story that goes something like this. Ralph Waldo Emerson and his son Edward were trying to persuade a calf into the barn. However, pushing and shoving was not yielding the desired results. The son clung to the neck and Ralph pushed from behind but with no results. The calf stuck to her ground. An Irish peasant who was passing offered to help. Going to the front of the calf, she stuck her finger into its mouth and the calf quietly and without a demur followed her into the barn.

What is the moral of the story? Most people are like the calf. If you get after them against their will and prod and push them to act according to your agenda, you will only succeed in getting them to dig their heels in and they will not budge an inch. However, if you provide them with some form of motivation (perhaps by helping they understand why you want them to act in a particular fashion and what is in it for them), then chances are you will get them moving.

Good executives or leaders get their work done and their ends achieved by motivating their employees to give their best both individually as well as a team. They are willing to ignore individual weaknesses and to concentrate on using their people?s best strengths. They are concerned more with what they can do rather than what they cannot. They understand that to get the most out of them, they will need to motivate them.

President Lincoln understood the importance of motivation. When he was told that General Ulysses S. Grant had a drinking problem, he responded, “If I knew his brand, I’d send a barrel to all the other generals also.”

Motivation has to come from inside. So as a leader you need to know what all is going on inside the obstinate individual, what are his likes and dislikes, more important his fears and his phobias. Once you know which buttons to push the rest becomes much easier. Some people respond to money, others to recognition. Ask any crooked businessperson how to motivate a powerful politician and he will give you the right answers!

You need to attack on several fronts, economic, emotional, recognition, self-expression, self-respect and self-fulfillment. Check where your recalcitrant team member stands on all these issues. Identify the things that will mean the most to them and then make a plan that will provide them a solution that best meets these needs. Like Mary?s little lamb, they will be ready to follow you for the rest of your life.

The best way to motivate even the most obstinate person is to see how best you can help them to succeed and achieve their own personal goals.

One of life’s hardest lessons to learn is that you are able to only change yourself. Some individuals spend excessive amounts of time and energy worrying or frustrated by other people’s thoughts and behaviors.

You are able to rail against the rain or feel sanguine about the snow, but there is not a lot you are able to do about it. Why should we believe we can change someone else’s behaviors and thoughts with just a couple of choice words? If you toy with it for a minute, it sounds rather ridiculous.

Yet we do not think about it when we have a worrisome reaction to another person’s behavior or words. We say things like, “How could they say such a thing!” or “How can anybody be so rude?” or “don't they recognize how much they hurt me? Why do they do that?”

We frequently react in this way because our emotions are a part of most people’s innate decision-making skills. We react and respond emotionally to emotional needs of our own, rather than in a logical, rational manner. Therefore, when someone touches one of these emotional needs, we can respond in a way that may not make a whole lot of sense to an outside observer.

What you are able to do, is to make a polite request for another to stop the behavior that you find frustrating, annoying or makes you worried But that's it, just once After that, you just become a nag and will be ignored. Repeating something over and over again does not suddenly make people more aware of themselves, it just makes them aware of how annoying you can be.

There is no magic to stopping trying to change other people’s behavior. Catch your thoughts before the upset you or you start getting that worried overwhelming feeling.

If you have already said something, now’s the time to stop and go no further. Unless you are the other individual’s parent, they have probably already heard it and may have even tried stopping the behavior. Hearing it again is not going to suddenly change their behavior.

Individuals can spend weeks, months and in some cases years in psychotherapy working on changing their thoughts or behaviors. They do this to find some way not allow worry and stress overcome them, but you have to realize the change depends on you.

That is because such change often takes that long to understand, practice, and then implement. Behaviors most significant to other people are also likely behaviors that are important to ourselves and not readily changed, even if we wanted to. They sometimes are integrated part of another’s personality or way of thinking about and looking at the entire world.

So save yourself some frustration today and try to learn to stop trying to change others. Focus instead on changing your own faults and you may find yourself living a happier and more peaceful life.
