To get started with video marketing you first need to locate a market niche that is hungry for visual information or entertainment. There are many, many niche markets to chose from, possibly thousands, but not all are suited for video marketing.

An ideal niche for video marketing is essentially any niche that conveys some kind of information. For example, videos of crashes, accidents, pranks, bloopers, kittens, puppies, and babies can be very entertaining but the videos do not contain any real information other than perhaps “be careful!”

While you absolutely can use entertainment videos as a means of generating traffic to your website and can even earn money if your site is running Adsense ads, entertainment videos are not nearly as profitable as information and problem solving videos.

The reason for this is very simple: people watching entertainment videos want to be entertained (big shock) and therefore do not want to join a mailing list or purchase a product.

On the other hand, individuals watching videos for the purposes of learning are much more inclined to join your mailing list or purchase a product because they have a need that you can possibly solve.

To find really great niches you will need to go to Youtube and do some research. I should point out that Youtube research is some of the most fund research I’ve ever done. You can easily spend hours on the site and not even realize it.

To research niches you can either browse random videos or you can type in the words ‘how to’ into the search bar. How to videos are usually information based and can give you some really great niche ideas. You should also look at random videos from time to time because you never know what you’ll find.

In this section I want to continue on the same front as the previous, where if you remember, we talked heavily about learning, how to learn effectively, and how to make progress. This is always a favorite topic of mine simply because there are so many marketers out there that I meet that have masses of potential. Some of the best ideas I've ever seen, some of the most enthusiastic work ethics and ambitious high aiming projects unfortunately never get anywhere.

It's not because they don't know what they want, it's not because they don't have goals, and it's not because they don't have the know-how. I can tell you with great confidence that every single person reading this actually knows more than they think about how to be successful. Using that knowledge however is another matter entirely, especially when it comes down to business.

Seeing as I've already been through some of my top learning tips for you, and shown you how taking action through forced methods is both easy, quick and efficient, bringing long term effects and progress with it, I want to move on and talk to you about how to maintain that level of progress throughout your career. This is vitally important.

I'm not just talking about something that you can do today that will get you closer to where you want to be tomorrow, but something you can do all the time that will get you closer to where you want to be all the time, every single day, every single hour in fact. Progress is the name of the game. Stick with me and let me show you the reason why when I wake up in a years time, and every year thereafter, I'll be sitting in a brand new chair in brand new surroundings with brand new ideas, knowledge, outlook and potential improvements for the future. Focus is the key, and this will be the underlying message through this section.

When you upload your page to your server you just started the race to get indexed. Now, the search engines won’t know you even upload anything for at least a few hours and in most cases a few days.

There are plenty of ways to get indexed today and I’ll go into those in a bit but here is what happens from start to finish when you get indexed. So as I was saying when you upload your page you have officially began the race.

The first part, for the third time is uploading your page. The bots are going to be looking for you if you did everything I said. Once they visit your page they may not index you. They may put you in line to be indexed. Sort of like a probationary period.

You don’t want to make any changes to your page once you upload it so make sure it’s the way you want it. Each time you update or change the page, the bots know and will keep starting from scratch with your page until it’s indexed.

Even when it’s already indexed and you make changes it will come back to your page and update the search engine accordingly which can be good and bad, so again play it safe.

If you’re not linked to another site or vice versa the bots are going to find you the hard way. They are going to hit blocks of I.P. addresses (the virtual address of your website besides the .com part) and look for new pages and sites. The spiders that are doing the research will save your site for export later to the Index.

You’re competing with billions of other sites sometimes all within the same hour(s) to get indexed or get your page “crawled” by the spiders. So to recap so far, when you upload your site it will eventually get crawled by the spiders/bots and it will either get indexed or put in line to be Indexed.

You should make note that no site is just put in the Index right away. It may get indexed but won’t appear in the search results until the Index has been updated. No one knows when the official updates are but they happened every few hours or days.

Once again, I'll re-iterate. I've done nothing to promote my video! I did however use a couple of sneaky, 'grey-hat' methods during the process, which I'll also talk about, but you won't need to use them to get similar results.

Earlier, we briefly mentioned the biography, which most people actually hate filling out. Luckily, for those who hate it, Squidoo doesn’t require much. You need to type something into the box that appears next to your picture. You can be brief, or you can go into more detail.

For those of you who like the biography part, you will be disappointed in the amount of space that Squidoo allows for this. You can, however, use the introduction section for more information, and if this isn’t enough, add a text/write module below that for more space.

The biography is important. Who are you? What makes you an expert on this topic? This is where you start to build credibility, and the more information that you are willing to provide, the better off your Squidoo lens will be.

Again, the biography section is really easy to overlook, because Squidoo doesn’t make it a priority like social networking sites. You must remember that Squidoo isn’t like any other social networking site.

For the most part, writing a bit for your biography is actually the largest amount of writing that you will do for your Squidoo lens. Therefore, you can afford to put more time and effort into this activity when you are setting up your lens. The rest of the work is mostly just writing titles, subtitles, and descriptions, and clicking little circles to make selections.

Don’t make the biography harder than it has to be. Most people aren’t going to visit your lens to learn more about you – they will visit to learn more about your topic. However, if they are thinking about purchasing something from you, they will want to know more about you – and this is why it is important to have something there for them to read.

It isn’t as complicated as setting up a MySpace biography. Nobody cares who your hero is or what your favorite movies are. Make your biography stick to the topic, and it will not only be easier for you to do, but your visitors will find that it is perfectly acceptable. They don’t care if you are married, what your dogs name is, or anything else. They care about the topic – so your bio needs to be ‘on topic.’

Again, just give basic information. You can post a quote for the bio section, as long as it is your own quote. You can be very basic, just make sure that you are being very honest as well, and of course, make sure that you do indeed put something there for your bio!
