There is no single taxonomy for Internet Marketing (as there is not for most other fields): there is only the question of how well any particular taxonomy fits its defined use.

For example, in most Internet Marketing forums, there are just 2-5 sections, and all discussions about Internet Marketing have to be put into one of those categories.

Generally this works well - although you could ask how much better it would work if there were more categories. The odd thing about a good taxonomy is that no-one notices that it's good! The amount of work that went into defining and refining it just is not obvious. A good taxonomy provides you with a mental model of the subject area (in this case, Internet Marketing) that fits well with its purpose.

With a good taxonomy, you apply that "mental model" to new content that you want to store, and it nearly always has a natural home within your model. You also apply the same model when you search for content, and it quickly leads you to one or two possible locations - one of which is where you'll find your content. In other words, a good taxonomy is not normally something you notice. It simply allows you to do your job efficiently.

A bad taxonomy, on the other hand, is something you notice because it causes endless frustration. You store content away in places that you know are not right, but they are the best the taxonomy allows. And you know in the back of your mind you are unlikely to be able to find that content again when you want to.

And when you come to look for it a few months later - sure enough - you can't find it! Before I started work on the IM Index Mind Map, I searched the 'net for a suitable taxonomy as a starting point. I felt sure someone had worked this out before. Of course, I found many approaches to categorising IM information (e.g. organizations of forums, structures of resource lists etc.), but none of them had sufficient detail or rigour in their construction.

Making excuses or setting specific dates to start like the beginning of the New Year won’t get YOU anywhere. We all live in the hear and now, so begin straight away.

Making a start doesn’t necessary mean jumping straight into a venture without planning. It means taking the first but significant step to making YOUR desire become a reality.

Life can be hectic for most of us. Work and family commitments can sometimes leave us feeling helpless and not in control. It really isn’t difficult to change YOUR course and sense of direction. Small subtle changes are like ripples on the water, once they begin the effects will multiply.

Making a start can be something as simple as just putting a basic plan together this will a will give you structure and sense of purpose. If YOU just do one simple task a day within a week you will have made 7 steps forward.

What can you do with a bachelor's degree? Ora master's degree? Or a doctorate? Well, for one thing, you should know that studies show that 10 years out of school after a bachelor's degree program most people are working in fields not directly related to their major (statistics are somewhat different for folks graduating from professional schools or graduate schools).

But what can you do with each of these degrees? Essentially, if you have an associate's or bachelor’s degree that isn't in a professional program like nursing, engineering, or teaching, your degree equally qualifies you fora variety of entry level jobs. What sort of jobs you can get may depend greatly on your previous work experience and especially on internships that you held during school. Unless you have significant research experience, a BA in psychology is pretty similar to a BA in sociology or philosophy.

What these liberal arts degrees do prepare you well for is graduate school. With a master's degree, you can do a number of more things with a bachelor's. You can teach at either the high school or community college level - most states don't require folks with master's degrees to get teaching certificates. With an MA or MFA in English writing or journalism you can definitely get writing jobs of various sorts - like editing or writing fora local newspaper. With an MBA you're ready to enter in at the middle management level or help a local business step it up. And with an MA in theology, like the program I'm starting right now, you can use the paperfrom your diploma to roll joints and smoke it up with the hippies squatting behind the seminary.

If you go to the doctorate level, you will be able to teach at a college or university, write books about things that only a few people are really interested in, or lead research teams. Actually, there are a fair number of things that require doctorates these days. Part of that is that there are a lot more PhD bearing people around now than there were 50 years ago, and part of that is that there are a lot more specialized information and research jobs than there used to be.

Professional graduate degrees are really where its at, in terms of degrees that will get you jobs - jobs that are useful to society - and jobs that will get you money. Doctors, lawyers, dentists, engineers, architects - aren't these what we all dreamed of becoming one day? Go for it, why can't you be what you want to be? Too old to be a doctor? You would be surprised at how old some students are.

The subject of an email is what is often referred to when a person or a recipient of an email decides whether he or she wants to open or read an e-mail. The subject could easily be regarded as one of the most important aspect of your promotional e-mail. Your subject must be short and concise. They should provide a summary for the content of the e-mail so that the recipient will have basic knowledge of the content. This is really vital in grabbing the attention of your readers and subscribers.

You want your subject to instantly grab the attention of your subscriber and get them to be intrigued to open up your mail. Remember, it is not necessarily true that a subscriber opens up subscribed mails. A good subject must always be tickling the curiosity of your recipient. It must literally force the recipient to open the mail. A certain emotion must be ignited and get them to open the mail. It is essential to use specific words to get the reaction you need. Keep in mind that the recipient or subscribers spends only a few seconds looking over each subject of the emails he receives. You must grab your reader’s attention right away.

There are many forms you can use for your subject. You can provide a subject that says your e-mail contains content that teaches them tips and methods on certain topics. An example of this is using keywords and keyword phrases such as, “How to”, “tips”, “Guides to”, Methods in and others like that. You can also put your subject in a question form. These may include questions like, “Are you sick and tired of your job?” Or “Is your boss always on your case?” Try to stay on the topic that pertains to your site so that you’ll know that your subscribers have signed up because they are interested in that topic. This form of subject is very effective because they reach out to your recipients emotions. When they have read the question on your subject, their mind starts answering the question already. You can also use a subject that commands your reader. Statements such as “Act now and get this once in a lifetime opportunity”, or “Double, triple and even quadruple what you are earning in one year”. This type of subject deals with the benefits your company provides with your product and services. You may also use breaking news as your subject to intrigue your subscriber. For example, if you deal with car engine parts you can write in your subject, “Announcing the new engine that uses no gasoline, It runs on water”. This creates curiosity with the reader and will lead them to open the mail and read on.

However history remembers Joel Comm’s ambitious blend of reality TV and internet marketing, there’s no doubt that The Next Internet Millionaire (TNIM) is a production on a scale that most home business owners can only dream about.

Joel Comm, as the host of TNIM, sets challenges for the contestants and then, at the conclusion, decides who isn’t going to make it to the next episode. The overall winner will receive the opportunity to work on a joint venture with Joel which will likely result in millionaire status.

The obvious comparison for this show is The Apprentice hosted by Alan Sugar in the UK and Donald Trump in the US. Team challenges are made and the losing team is interviewed to decide who should be eliminated (read ‘fired’).

Some additional twists are added with the opportunity for one member to obtain “immunity” status by winning a particular challenge. Poker-style E-Commerce chips are also dispensed for members to use in purchasing additional help with their challenges.

The majority of the show is given over to contestant interviews and ‘fly on the wall’ views of the challenges in progress. The consequence is that nothing of significant educational value is offered and all that remains is the fun of watching the contestants pitted against each other.

This alone would be fine, except that friction, in the first episode at least, is virtually non-existent. Most of the fun from The Apprentice centres on the cut-throat competition between the contestants, but Joel Comm has managed to gather together a group of pleasant, friendly people that, for the most, are falling over each other to be kind and supportive of one another.

The interviews focus on one or two inflammatory comments, but they’re insignificant and the creators of the show are clearly desperate for some action.

The Milton model forms the other part of the basis of NLP, the yin to the yang of the Meta-model, if you like. Whereas the Meta-model drives toward eliminating the fuzzy vagueness of language, the Milton tries to eliminate the specifics of language to attempt to unveil the underlying subconscious levels (unconscious model) rather than the conscious (cognitive) model. The Milton model was named after Milton Erickson, the founding President of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis who is generally recognized as the originator of clinical hypnotherapy.

The Milton model is most often used to gain and build rapport. This is useful in many situations, whether they be casual social situations, meetings at work or in a sales type environment. In any of these situations you will have an advantage when you build rapport. To do this generalities are used instead of specifics and nouns are most often nominalized. This is another way of making your conversation as non-specific and non-threatening as possible.

If you are making conversation with someone and you ask about the previous weekend you would want to keep the conversation general and then try to steer them into defining the direction it takes. For example, if the person you are talking to says they were out with their friends, you might ask what friends they were with. Your end of the conversation would be more mirroring what they were saying to build the rapport and gain their confidence.

Application to Business In a business context the Milton model is very useful in public speaking. When one uses more generalities one has more rapport with a crowd. Think about the last speech you heard. Probably it was from a politician. If there was a press corps and the politician was taking questions, odds are very strong the answers were vague. This is classic Milton, where the politician can’t be too specific about ‘things’ because specifics might come back to haunt them. The same thing happens in many business meetings, especially board meetings and public meetings, such as annual stock holders meetings.

In more intimate settings individuals can match and mirror a client or colleague. You can try to match a person’s physical stance, their vocabulary, the tonal quality of their voice, and try to imagine what they might be thinking. If you are imitating them closely enough you will start to pick up on their general thought, at least minimally. As you are talking to the person you can lead them slowly and softly in the direction you wish to go, and if they are in true rapport they will go along with you. This is not to say that you are going down a path they would object to, but one that will benefit them. When in rapport the two of you will more likely see eye to eye.

Do you remember in the beginning of this course when I said that Adsense wants you to be successful with their program? Well it's true! They have provided you with most of the tools you will need to make your Adsense business a success.

Tools like reports that you can use to track the performance of your ads. You will find all of the stats from your campaigns under the reports tab inside your Adsense account. There you will be able to learn things like the total number of clicks and impressions for all of your ad units\blocks. You will also be able to view your effective CPM (cost per thousand impressions).

Let me take a minute to clarify CTR's and CPM's for you. The CTR (click through rate) for Adsense is the total number of clicks that you receive for your ad units\blocks. It's broken down by individual ad units. The number of clicks is then divided by the total number impressions for that unit to return your CTR. The higher your CTR's the more revenue for you.

The CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) effective CPM is calculated by dividing your earnings by the total number of page impressions that you receive, and then multiplying the final figure by 1000. Be careful not to confuse your effective CPM with your earnings. Effective CPM is generally used for testing various channels to find out which ones are performing the best. The reports can be displayed several different ways. You can view them by the day, week, month or since your last pay check. You can also search for a specific date range. You can customize the reports for advanced performance and tracking by setting up different channels for more in depth results. For instance you can set up channels to test one page against another, one ad format verses another, keywords, or even whole websites to see which one performs the best. There are so many options available with channels that we can't go into them all, but I'm sure you get the idea!

You can also download your reports in CSV format (comma separated values format) for better record keeping. Plus get your reports emailed to you automatically so you don't have to login. Adsense usually updates the stats every hour, so you can be pretty sure that you are getting up to date reports.
