Introduction – What Is Acupuncture?

Firstly welcome to our beginners guide on Acupuncture and thank you for joining me as we embark on a quick journey of discovery into this sometimes mysterious art. In this first introductory chapter we will be going over a few key points of Acupuncture and exactly what you need to know, upon which we will delve deeper into in the coming chapters. Let’s get started…

First and foremost, Acupuncture is a well-known alternative to mainstream medicine that originated from China. It is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine that dates back thousands of years, and is a widely accepted alternative form of medicine in the Western healthcare industry.

Today, it is widely used to treat different specific ailments such as chronic back ache and headaches, osteoarthritis, postoperative pain and vomiting, allergies, cancer-related conditions, stroke, and even infertility. It is a common substitute for patients that are looking for less aggressive types of treatment, but is not recommended to be used as the primary treatment in any kind of illness. Most places that practice acupuncture are found in the US, UK, and Asia, and are mostly done by private practitioners.

How It Works

The word acupuncture comes from the Latin words acus and punctura, the former meaning needle, and the latter meaning to puncture. The procedure is literally the act of puncturing the skin with the use of fine needles with the aim of stimulating the body’s acupuncture points.

The needles may vary in size depending on the area it will be placed, and patients are asked to lie down as the needles are carefully positioned allowing it to penetrate the skin. The penetration, however, will not be deep enough to permanently damage the skin. The procedure may last for a couple of minutes to a few hours depending on the severity of your health concern. Although it may seem painful and scary at a glance, most practitioners guarantee that there will only be minimal pain much similar to a buzzing or stinging sensation, and patients who have undergone this treatment will be able to attest to the relaxing sensation it provides.

The Principles of Acupuncture

The traditional form of acupuncture is firmly based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.

According to their beliefs, our bodies are filled with Qi, a life force that circulates through our body through the main organs. This same energy is then distributed to the entirety of our bodies, including the tissues, bones, nerves, and veins through channels known as meridians. These meridians can be likened to railways that easily transport Qi energy from one major organ to the other. The proper flow of Qi in our system creates a balanced environment in our bodies thus keeping us healthy. In line with this, traditional Chinese medicine believes that all diseases are caused by a certain form of imbalance whether caused by our environment or changes in our body.

In the modern age, the existences of both Qi and meridians have still not been proven by science. This has caused acupuncturists to take a different approach in explaining the process of acupuncture in relation to the treatment of pain.

A more acceptable explanation in the scientific field about how acupuncture works is the body’s release of endorphins and adenosine whenever a needle penetrates the skin. The said releases of these chemicals have been found to relieve pain and make patients feel better. The use of acupuncture can temporarily alleviate pain without having to take medication or undergo surgery. There is, however, no medical or scientific proof in its efficacy in eliminating major health conditions.

Add what you are comfortable with at your own pace. For some, that's a lot of changes right away. For others, it's one at a time. Only you truly know the answer to which way is best for you.

Well that’s a basic introduction to the world of Acupuncture, over the next few chapters we will take a more in depth look at some of the aspects mentioned above. Are you ready? Let’s go…

Chapter 1 – The History Of Acupuncture & How It Affects You

Long before the emergence of Western medicine, the Chinese have already established their own form of medicine and healing. For thousands of years, Chinese healers have continuously refined their system resulting in complex and elaborate processes aimed at channeling the proper flow of energy in our bodies to combat certain illnesses.

In this beginning chapter we will be looking at how Acupuncture came into existence from its inception to current use and then into the future.

The Roots of Acupuncture

Although the specific date when acupuncture was first used cannot be determined, it was first introduced in the “Classic of

Internal Medicine of the Yellow Emperor”, China’s earliest book on Chinese medicine dating back from 1st century BC. It is said that the teachings on this book make up the foundation of the techniques currently practiced in acupuncture today.

The Rise & Fall of Traditional Chinese Medicine

When modern medicine emerged and became widely used around the world, acupuncture and other forms of traditional Chinese medicine became out of place and lost its popularity, especially with its lack of scientific basis.

The 20th century became a slow time for acupuncture due to new healthcare treatments introduced by the Westerners. Many doctors educated and trained under western medicine pushed to ban acupuncture as well other branches of traditional Chinese medicine because of its unconventionality and lack of scientific basis.

Introduction

Welcome to the Amazon Money Machine. This guide will give you an overview of the various ways you can make money through Amazon.

Even if you are still working a full-time job, there are many ways you can begin creating your own money machine. It takes some work to get started, but it’s not rocket science.

In this report you will receive a good overview of Amazon’s most popular money making options. Then, you can choose which route may work best for you based on the amount of time and budget you are working with.

Why Amazon

Amazon did start out as a bookseller. That was years ago. Many people still believe that Amazon is mostly focused on being a book marketplace. This is no longer true. Amazon is arguably the internet’s #1 internet retailer.

There are literally millions of people going to Amazon everyday for purchasing products. Amazon has expanded beyond books and now sells all kinds of products. You find everything from groceries to modern electronic components. And many products get free shipping added for customers who are Prime members.

If that’s not convincing enough, here are some stats:

• In 2014, over 2 billion products were sold on Amazon Marketplaces
• As of 2015, there are over 300 million active accounts on Amazon
• The average Amazon user spends about $625 per year. Amazon Prime members tend to spend more.
• About half of web shoppers go to amazon for their product search, according to a study done by BloomReach - https://venturebeat.com/2015/10/06/ amazon-commands-almost-half-of-all-product-searches-andmarketers- are-ignoring-omnichannel/
• Amazon brought in about $135 billion dollars in revenue in 2016.

What if you could gain access to this growing pool of customers?

Imagine even having a small piece of the pie rolling to your bank account. It is a good time to get in and start making money with Amazon.

5 Reasons why using Amazon is a great thing to do

Amazon is much more than a place where you can buy books. Amazon has transformed into a platform that enables people like you and me to make a good steady source of income. However, there are many platforms available that you can

Amazon Money Machine Report

consider using. Here are some really compelling reasons why you should be considering using Amazon:

Reason #1 Amazon has a huge number of people visiting every month

Amazon helps solve the issue of trying to drive traffic to what you are offering. According to Amazon.com, there are over 150 million unique visitors. Most of these visitors are everyday consumers looking for products to buy.

This means if you can have your product in front of potential buyers almost immediately. The time you save from building up traffic and waiting for conversions will make it worth it. Amazon’s large volume of traffic is a HUGE consideration when thinking about where to start making money from.

Reason #2 Amazon is designed to help you sell.

In addition to getting your product listed on Amazon’s marketplace, Amazon has the technology to help you sell more of your product.

Reason #3 You can start with little or no money.

You can start using amazon to generate revenue without any money to start. If you have a website and can write an email, you have the skills and tools needed to start generating income. Cool, right? If you do have some money to invest you’ll be able to take advantage of more money making options.

Reason #4 Customers trust buying from Amazon

Amazon has been around for a long time now. Online customers trust giving their payment information to amazon. A customer that trusts the site they are buying from are more likely to complete the purchase.

With so much news buzz talking about hacking, security breaches and identity theft, customers will always opt for an option they trust over a new place to purchase if they have a choice. Using amazon takes the skepticism away from customers that are ready to purchase.

Reason #5 Amazon is the largest search engine in the world for products

When customers are ready to search for something they want to buy, they will usually go to Amazon first - over Google. Customers in the pre-buying stage might go to google for more information and to be educated about a product. However, when it comes time to purchase they will usually be on the marketplace of choice: Amazon. Catch buying customers where they want to buy.

There you have it

Five excellent reasons why Amazon is worth considering as your money-making machine. There are clearly many benefits of using this platform to generate more income. Of course, you’ll never know how much you can make unless you try first. We hope the following money making models will help inspire some ideas of what you can do and give you a head start when getting setup.

Amazon Money Machine Overview

Now that you understand why Amazon is a great platform to setup your money machine, we need to talk about your options. There are three primary options when it comes to making money on Amazon:

Publish a Book

Publishing a book on Amazon is one of the first ways you could make money. Amazon has taken this beyond the basic paperback with the creation of the Amazon Kindle Program.

Sell a physical product

If book writing is not your thing, you may want to consider creating your own brand of product. You can have the product shipped to Amazon’s warehouse facilities and they will manage the fulfillment process.

This is called Fulfillment by Amazon.

Promote Someone’s Product

There is also an option an option where you can make money from Amazon by promoting other people’s products.

Helping drive customers to Amazon can make you money. This is called being an Amazon Affiliate.

Which one should you start with?

The process of creating your Amazon Money Machine follows the same initial steps. Which one is right for you will depend on the amount of money you are willing to spend initially and the kind of work you are prepared to do.

Is Detoxing Right For You MRR Ebook

Is Detoxing Right for You?

Every day on the news we hear about pollution in the air and toxins in the foods and drinks that we consume. It seems that while technology advances, instead of helping protect us from toxins, we’re being bombarded by them even more.

Detoxing your body is a method many people use to flush out toxins and give your body a jumpstart that it needs to function properly. But it might not be something you want to pursue, so it’s vital that you learn exactly how it can benefit you and how a detox works before you embark on one blindly.

Where Are Toxins Found?

In short, toxins are all around you. They’re in your cabinets, on the skin of your fruit, in nature, in the air and more. You can’t truly escape toxins on a regular basis, but you can shield your body from them and give it a chance to recover and fight back.

Every day you go to the store to stock up on household cleaners, food and beauty products, you’re buying toxins to bring back into your home. You use them for yourself and even on your little baby if you have children.

They’re typically invisible to you – especially in the air that you breathe – but in products, you can spot them if you look at the ingredients list and see a slew of words you can hardly pronounce.

Natural toxins are in your environment, like poisonous plants, animals and even germs. You typically know about these and try to avoid them. We’re less likely to learn about the toxic chemicals in our life, though.

Chemicals aren’t made by nature – they’re made by man – and they’re very dangerous. Sometimes we know the dangers – like using pesticides on our lawn or garden to keep pests out.

Other times, we blindly accept a company’s use of toxins in products that we buy, assuming the government would protect us from anything truly harmful. But they’re rarely tested and often ignored until it’s proven that they’re harmful.

It’s almost a case of innocent until proven guilty, when in reality, for the protection of humankind, it should be the other way around. Companies should have to prove the innocence of their chemicals before using them, but that’s not how it works.

To start, identify the toxins in your day today. Look at everything you eat – especially processed foods. Are there ingredients with very chemical-sounding names in them? These are likely toxic chemicals.

Preservatives, artificial flavoring, and coloring enhancements are all false ingredients that attack your body, rather than contribute to its nutritional benefits. They’re in foods that are even branded as healthy, so make sure you investigate carefully.

Look at the toxins in your community. Many news stations will have a pollution index that you can analyze to see how toxic the air is that you breathe. You want to pay attention to everything landing on your skin or being sucked into your lungs, such as cleaning aromas.

Not everything will have a scent, like lemon-scented cleaner. Many of them are colorless and free of any aroma. So look for whatever is being used in your home and work environment.

What Does It Mean for Something to Be Toxic?

Well, it means your body has no use for it, so it has to work hard to rid your body of it. Sometimes, it even fails, and those toxins build up inside your body and wreak havoc on your health.

You may not see any side effects the first day you’re exposed to toxins, but over time, it begins to take its toll and you start to experience the burden of your body being unable to handle the overload.

Sometimes toxins have mild side effects, like a minor headache, a sneeze or other reaction. Sometimes it’s more serious – like being a cancer-causing toxin residing in your body.

If your body isn’t performing optimally, then it’s going to struggle cleaning the toxins out. It will become sluggish and falter. A detox periodically can rev up your inner engines and help you function at peak performance levels.

The Basic Rules of Detoxing Your Body

With a detox, you’re going to have to identify the toxins in your own life and then avoid them. At the same time, you’ll need to take some steps to boost your body with the repair process.

You can detox your body from the inside-out. The toxins are things you’ve ingested as well as outer pollutants that have landed on your body. Many people don’t think about it, but your skin is the largest organ you have – and you may not be protecting it from toxins in the air.

When you detox, you’ll not only be identifying and avoiding toxins, but you’ll be using things like diet, sleep, stress relief and more to help rid your body of damaging elements.

When you go through a full body detox, not only will your skin get cleansed, but your internal organs as well – your kidney, stomach, lungs and more. Your kidneys and sweat glands will do most of the heavy lifting during the detox process.

After identifying where your toxins are coming from, start replacing the processed foods with organic, whole foods. If you notice your diet has gaps in what your body needs nutritionally, then supplement it with various solutions like vitamins and minerals.

Trying to eliminate an ingredient that is included in such a wide array of foods is bound to cause some challenges. enough, most of the foods labeled “Gluten Free” may be more expensive than their counterparts.

Taking the time to eat right, get sufficient rest and exercise will always be in your best interest. This diet may not be quite what you need. If it is, however, the benefits will far outweigh any challenges you face as a result of this decision. I hate to sound dramatic, but cutting Gluten from your diet may even save your life. In order for you to be sure this diet is right for you, please continue to read on and learn more about Gluten and why avoiding it is such a big deal. This may very well end up being one of the best decisions you have ever made.

Chapter 1 – What is Gluten?

Put simply, Gluten is one of the proteins found in cereal grains such as wheat, rye and barley. Gluten is produced by a combination of two different Proteins. These Proteins are Gliadin and Glutenin. The plant relies on its supply of Gluten because it serves as food for the plant during development. When these grains are ground into flour, the Gluten is responsible for the elasticity of dough mixtures. It is this elasticity that gives our food a certain “chewiness.” Individuals who suffer from Gluten intolerance are often encouraged to avoid oats as well. This is because oats can easily be contaminated by foods that contain Gluten since it is often processed in factories that produce food using wheat and other foods that contain Gluten. Some examples of gluten-free grains are millet, sorghum, brown rice, buckwheat, wild rice, quinoa and corn.

Wheat is often used to make the following foods:

- Bread
- Pasta
- BakeD goods
- Sauces
- Cakes
- Soups
- Salad dressings
- Battered meat, poultry and fish

Rye is used to make foods such as:

- Pumpernickel bread
- Cereals
- Beer

Barley is often used to make:

- Beer
- Food coloring
- Yeast
- Malt milk
- Malt vinegar
- Soups

Many of the foods we eat may also contain some amount of Gluten as a result of being contaminated during the manufacturing process. These foods include:

- Dried fruit
- Candy
- Flavored coffee
- Caramel color
- Food starch
- French fries
- Processed cheese and meats
- Vegetable and meat stock
- Bouillon cubes
- Dietary Supplements such as multivitamins
- Ice cream

This list is not exhaustive. Time will not permit me to list all the foods that contain or do not contain Gluten and even if I had the time, you would find it quite boring. The only efficient way to determine if your food contains Gluten is to read the label carefully. This will require a lot of your time in order for you to be accurate. This exhaustive process may not be right for everyone. The next chapter will help you to determine whether we are making too much adieu about nothing.

Chapter 2 – Why the Big Deal?

A recent survey highlighted that about a third of all Americans are actively trying to eliminate Gluten from their diet. This is an awful lot of people when we think about the fact that there are over 325,000,000 people in the US. But why are they making such a fuss? Let us take some time to examine a few of the reasons so many people have decided to live Gluten Free.

1. Celiac Disease

Studies have indicated that the number of individuals who currently suffer from Celiac Disease is on the rise. Although no official numbers have been published, it is estimated that well over 1% of the world’s population suffer from this disease. Celiac Disease is especially common among the elderly. Even worse is the fact that many cases of individuals who suffer from this disease have gone undiagnosed. In fact, about 80% of the people who suffer from Celiac Disease are not even aware that they have it.

But what exactly is Celiac Disease you may ask? As highlighted in the previous chapter, Gluten is composed of two main proteins, Gliadin and Glutenin. Individuals with Celiac Disease react

negatively to the Gliadin component. Celiac is classified as an autoimmune disease. That is because the immune system of these individuals will confuse Gluten with something dangerous like some sort of Bacteria. As a result, their bodies try to defend themselves against the Gluten and end up attacking itself in the process. This attack can result in the degeneration of the intestinal wall and can be life threatening if not treated.

Other symptoms of Celiac Disease include:

- Nutritional deficiencies
- Anaemia
- Chronic fatigue
- Vomiting
- Abdominal bloating
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Digestive issues
- Decreased appetite
- Itchy skin rashes
- Irritability
- Depression
- Osteoporosis
- Damaged tooth enamel
- Joint pain
- Acid reflux

2. Gluten Sensitivity

Others, who do not suffer from Celiac Disease, have chosen to avoid Gluten or cut it out of their diet altogether because they suffer from Gluten Sensitivity. These individuals may have even gotten a negative result when they did a blood test for Celiac but simply do not feel well when they consume foods that contain Gluten. They may even suffer from symptoms that are quite similar to those of someone with Celiac Disease. Suffering from Gluten Sensitivity means that the individual reacts negatively to Gluten even though their immune system is not attacking their bodies, as is the case with Celiac Disease. The symptoms of Gluten Sensitivity are usually not related to the gastrointestinal tract or cause any damage to the intestines at all. On the contrary, these individuals are more likely to experience fatigue, joint pain, abdominal pain or even ‘brain fog.’ Thankfully, Gluten sensitivity is not life threatening.

Introduction

Not one of us has gone unscathed from and by the custom of dating. It does not matter what culture, gender or age, dating has had an impact upon us in some form of other. We see examples of it on the television, read about it in magazines and learn about it the classroom, locker room and on the street. Sociologists study it as do psychologists, behaviorists, educators and biologists.

The subject is pervasive. Dating with all its foibles is regular fodder for movies and television series. Books extol the art of dating and/or finding your “soul mate”. The ideology of romantic love, “true love” and the “ideal mate” are expounded page after page or in scene after scene. According to this approach, the first date is the start of this journey. In many movies and pulp fiction, the first date is where the hero and heroine start-off on their journey into the ultimate adventure of eternal happiness.

This quest for eternal happiness is not a modern dilemma. It dates back centuries. It is part of many different philosophical approaches to life. Dating, however, is a new phenomenon. It is only around a century old. It is an evolutionary process affected by technological and sociological changes. Dating has to do with relationships and experimentation. It concerns the search for economic, societal and emotional security. It is about compromise and expansion. It is also, believe it or not, fun.
Dating is amusing and daunting. It is scary and exciting. It can be an adventure or a calamity. In fact, sometimes, it can be a bit of both. In the search for the ideal date, you are bound to make a few mistakes. Relax. Everybody does. It is rare to find exactly who you want to be with on your first outing. Think of it as a learning experience, a great adventure, time well spent. Certainly, it is more interesting than watching the news, although it can sometimes feel you may soon be on it as you are quickly becoming part of a train wreck.

Depending upon your point of view, dating is either easier or harder as you get older. This is an e-book geared towards the mature male. It is a guide to dating. Are you curious about arranging that first date on an online dating service? Perhaps, you are looking to date a single mom. Maybe you, yourself, are a single father or are you a senior? This e-book hopes to help you be successful in obtaining that first date. It looks at means to make your first date, great. First, however, let’s start with a definition and a brief history lesson. What is dating and when did it all begin?

1 Talking About All About All Generations

DefinitionDefinition Definition

Dating is a simple sounding word. It consists of two syllables d?t and ?ng. The origins of the word lie in the Latin language – data/dare to give. The basis of the current usage, however, began in the United States. It is now universal in it application as an informal term describing making an appointment or assignation with a member of the opposite sex. Dating is the action of going out with another person, either as a romantic or social partner. A date is now an appointment or engagement with the specific idea of going out socially. A date is also the word you apply to the person who is accompanying you on this specific outing.

This concept of “dating” someone is new in terms of historical developments. While it does have predecessors in the form of courtship and courting, dates and dating are products of the early 20th century. It is an evolutionary if not revolutionary step in the establishing of relationships between the sexes set into motion by the fallout from and advancements made in World War I.

History

Prior to the development of “dating,” young people and adults met at socially acceptable venues. They socialized at Church and were introduced at dances. They met at local functions such as fairs, hunts and fields. Large family gatherings were the perfect times for people to meet. Christmas was one such time. Many families exchanged gifts and visited each other’s homes. The young people met in supervised situations, bargains were struck between the parents and events proceeded from there.

Courting was all about finding a mate. It meant commitment and marriage. Marriage from the earliest times was always the final product of two people courting. Absent was the modern concept of true love. Marriage rarely relied on concepts of love and soul mates. It was an economic and social contract between two people. It was for the betterment of their lives and that of their families.

The family played an integral role in all marriages. It did not matter whether you were upper, middle, working or lower class. Marriage was the ultimate goal – a goal in which you strived to improve your lot in life and, therefore, the lot of your family.

For some, it meant an improvement in their social status; for others, it was the uniting of two families for political and economic reasons. Some parents gained a direct and immediate benefit through either selling their daughter into marriage or procuring a dowry or dowry price. Even when the Victorian’s began to finalize the concept of a woman’s proper sphere and a male’s role in society, the rationale behind courtship remained – marriage with the accompanying economic and or social betterment. No matter who you were, you did not want to “marry down”. While it may be romantic to fall in love with some one of a different class, it was never realistic to expect it to work in real life.

The position of parents on the importance of marriage did not change over the 19th century. Marriage was the only possible outcome of courtship. What did vary was
the amount of direct supervision of the two young people. Until the 1830s, the shape of courtship remained less rigid. While the role of the parents was always strong, their children had more freedom of movement than in successive generations. In part, this was the result of increased implementation of a gender-specific view of men and women’s roles. As the Victorian Age took hold, women assumed a very strict position within society. It was a view that held them to be naïve, innocent, chaste and innocent (i.e. stupid or uniformed) in the ways of the world. Men were morally corrupt and given over to fleshly desires. A strong woman had to restrain and retrain his manly urges. Nevertheless, remaining consistent in this stricter form of gendered society were the goals of courtship: marriage and children, economic and social status.

At the back of these Victorian concepts were the parents. They held a very formal role. They supervised all aspects of the courtship. Duennas or parental supervision was at an all time high. While courtship was intended to end with marriage, it could not do so if the parents refused your suit. The young man did not ask the object of his affections for her hand in marriage. He turned to the parents, particularly the father. During this era, the father had control of the family. This was firmly ensconced in the legal system. The father was the owner of everything. His wife and his children were his property.

The arrival of the industrial revolution in the 19th century began to alter the overall concept of courtship in specific ways. Technology began to liberate women. It sent them off into the factories. It created new classes of people. This included the poor woolen factory girls as well as a white-collar group of clerks, secretaries and telephone operators. Many of these jobs became female ghettos. Nevertheless, the arrival of this type of work liberated many girls and men from some of the formalities of courtship.

Women began to be more independent of their parents, although many did not. With many living away from their parents, the rules of courtship had to change. Those who stayed at home would experience the stereotypical supervised concept.

Parents would be there while the young man came calling. Some parents and young women, however, did not have or could not afford a separate parlor or living room. As a result, they took their courtship to the streets.

Public spaces became the abode of courtship. This use of open spaces soon caught on with all levels of society. Even the upper classes adopted it, finding it oh so droll. Nevertheless, courtship retained strong moral precepts. You courted only to get married. Sex was not a part of the courtship. Even during the loosening morals of WWI, premarital sex was not part of the normal form of courtship.

Creating an audience like that means building an audience that will grow in a self-sustaining and self-perpetuating manner. It means building an audience of people who will actually want to buy from you. And it means building an audience that will stay with you for a long time.

And without wanting to sound hyperbolic, it is absolutely true that huge, engaged audiences like this represent the single differentiating factor that sets the most successful brands in the world apart online.

Think about it. What are the biggest sites and brands in your niche online right now? Which are the competitors that you wish you could be?

For a fitness site it might be something like Bodybuilding.com or BreakingMuscle.com. For an online marketing site it might be ShoeMoney, MOZ, SmartPassiveIncome or Search Engine Land. For a site about self-improvement, it might be Tim Ferriss, or perhaps the Bulletproof Executive.

So, what is it that sets these sites apart? Why are they more successful than your brand?

Simple: they have vastly larger audiences than you do. These sites have hundreds of thousands of followers. People who would consider themselves genuine fans. People who will visit their site every single day and who will trust what they have to say.

If a small niche site posts news about a new product, then it won’t have the platform to reach out to with. Perhaps 100 people might see that product over the course of a month and seeing as your average conversion rate for a sales page is about 1% at the generous end you’re talking a single sale.

You could get more people to see your site, sure. You could set up an ad campaign and get lots of people to click on it to bring them to your site.

But then they would likely just leave. Why? Because they’re not your audience. You have exposure now but you still don’t have an audience.

I always like to paint a picture here of a watch salesman. Imagine that someone comes up to you in the street, opens their coat and then offers you to buy a $1,000 watch. Would you? No! Because you don’t trust that person. You know nothing about them. You’ve never seen them before. Even if the watch is stunning, great value and exactly what you’re looking for.

But now imagine that you have done lots of business with a local jewelers and you now know and trust them well. You’re on their mailing list and you know the person who owns the shop and recognize the brand. You’re passing in the street and then you see the same watch in the window. Now there’s a chance you might buy. Because you’re already a customer. And it’s the same thing with a website that has an audience.

Another example I like to use is asking someone on a date. Imagine going up to a random woman or man in the street and asking for their number. How’s that likely to go down? They probably won’t give it to you and you’ll be lucky not to get slapped!

But if you spend the time chatting with them and building rapport, then you are much more likely to be successful.

This is the difference between a platform and an audience in blogging or internet marketing. This is why you absolutely need to put the time in to not only be able to reach out to a huge number of people, but also to be able to count them as a genuine audience: as fans or as followers.

1. The Difference

The best place to start is with the broader overview and from there we can hone in on more granular detail. In other words, I’m going to give you the big picture, so that you know your objective and you know the overall strategy. We’ll then be able to deconstruct the end point we’re looking for to see how we get there.
Okay, so I mentioned earlier that this book would give you an ‘edge’ seeing as most people go about building their audience the wrong way. I absolutely meant that – it was not just marketing talk.

The point is that most new brands have a completely misguided approach to how they go about marketing and promoting themselves and this mistake absolutely cripples any chance of success. That’s what we’ll be addressing here though and in doing so, we’ll hopefully be able to ensure that you don’t take a similarly misguided approach.

How So Many Get it So Wrong So how do so many businesses get it wrong? What is so incorrect about their approach?

The problem comes down to care and attention. That is to say that to put it politely, a lot of businesses view their digital marketing efforts as a ‘get rich quick’ scheme. Think of all the different marketers that you have encountered on your trips around the web. How many of them do you feel are trustworthy and offering a great product? How many do you feel are just trying to get you to spend cash on a sub-par product?

How many times have you had a web page pop up without your intention and tell you about this fantastic opportunity to earn millions while working from home.
“I couldn’t believe it!”

Announces some awkward, unpolished voice.

“And neither will you! Soon you’ll be earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a day working from the comfort of your home.”

Well guess what? Surprise, surprise you shouldn’t believe it. When you part with your hard earned cash, what you’re most likely to receive is a shoddy PDF and perhaps a couple of random videos.

I’ve helped companies to sell some pretty awful products in the past (I’m not proud of it!). One time I got to try out the product – which claimed to be the turning point in people’s lives – and it turned out to be a series of videos that were made purely from screen captures without so much as a some narration. It was literally a video of a guy clicking some things on a screen in order to log into a profile and sign up to an autoresponder. Absolutely terrible value for money.
