Social Bookmarking websites are basically sites that categorize and store bookmark (links which direct viewers to a specific website). These sites attract millions of visitors that looking for information.

What you want to do first is create an organized system to your social bookmarking campaigns. You do this by creating a “Bookmarks” folder within your Firefox toolbar.

If you are selling a website that features products or information that was not created exclusively for the site, be sure to indicate licensing, whether there are any restrictions as well as the number of copies being sold.

Your job is to highlight the value of every listing and to create value where it may be overlooked, so always be on the lookout for ways to increase the perceived value and overall potential of your websites.

One way of doing this is by keeping a pulse on the market. Keep on top of what types of websites are successfully selling as well as what type of websites are receiving a high number of bids. If you find a site that has a high number of bids it’s a good sign that the topic and website style is in demand, giving you fresh ideas for your own website creations.

Now that you’ve found your forum, it’s time to start making it useful. As I’ve stated in rule #8 before, you’re going to be a participant in the community.

Ideally, you wouldn’t join a forum that is about Office Network Management if you’re trying to sell a cure for fleas; you’d probably be joining a pet forum. So, find threads you could post in and give it a shot. Be on the lookout for people who have questions and try to be the first to answer them.

Know Your Product and Its Competitors

This means you’ll have to be knowledgeable about your product and product line. You’ll even have to be an expert about your rival’s products and other mainstream offerings.

If you can be aware of the advantages of your rivals and point out their disadvantages, it will be much easier to pull off a persuasive argument in favor for yours over theirs.

Choose a topic carefully. You want your Squidoo lenses to be focused around a specific topic, rather than spread out to cover multiple niches. Once you have traffic flowing into your Squidoo lenses, you can quickly expand your outreach by developing additional lenses on other topics.

Create 10-20 articles on your chosen topic, being careful not to keyword stuff! You want you incorporate relevant keywords into your content but you want to be careful that your material is comprehensive and won’t be penalized in the search engines or deemed inappropriate by Squidoo.

Create a Squidoo lens for each of your articles. Your articles should be between 500-800 words long. You can write one lengthy article per Squidoo lens and break it up into smaller segments, utilizing Squidoo’s option to incorporate content boxes within your lens. Include images whenever possible to represent and highlight the information.

Use Squidoo’s tagging system to assign relevant keywords to each of your Squidoo lenses. You want to be careful not to include too many keywords however! Good rule of thumb is to keep your keyword tags below 10 per lens.

Internally link each Squidoo lens to each other. This will help your content retain link juice and will funnel traffic from one lens to another.

Include a direct link to your squeeze page or sales page from each lens, and enable modules within your lens, so that it’s more interactive, encouraging comments and feedback from visitors.

We can’t go into fine detail with this section because depending on the autoresponder company you choose their system will be different than the others. However, the basic idea is that you will need to create a web form for your sign-up form, and copy and paste the HTML or Javascript code into the source code of your squeeze page.

If you’re not sure how to create the web form, sign into your autoresponder account and look for Help files on the subject. Try searching for a “getting started” topic or “create a web form” topic. If you still can’t figure it out, submit a support ticket and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Once you have set up your form details, you will be given either HTML code, or Javascript code. Highlight the entire code and then right-click on it. From the drop-down menu, choose Copy.

Then, open your squeeze page in whatever program you used to create it, and change the formatting so you are seeing the raw source code. If you’re not familiar with HTML it will look like a bunch of strange characters mixed in with regular text.

Scroll down to the area of the page where you want to add the form, and paste the form code there. You may need to tweak it a bit to get the alignment right. When it looks right, save the file and republish the page.

Then go to your squeeze page online and test the form by subscribing with your own email address. This is a good idea even beyond testing the form because you will receive a copy of the same emails that your subscribers do, so you can see whether they are coming through okay or need to be adjusted in any way.

One last important idea: be sure you include a sign-up form for your email list on every page of your website too! Not everyone is going to enter your site on the squeeze page. Some will be entering on the home page, some on article pages – basically visitors can come through any “back door” so you will want an easy way for them to sign up to your list. Put a sign-up form in one of the sidebars on either side of your website.
