I was angry at myself for having bad credit, so I made a conscious decision to do something about it by whatever means necessary. This includes ditching the pay cable TV channels, downgrading my cell phone plan, and the big one, selling my beloved cars.

That's right I sold my cars. The cars that I truly loved. A Lexus GS 430, A Hummer H2, and a Porsche Boxster. It was hard at first to swallow my pride and downgrade to an inexpensive, fuel efficient car, but thisdecision enabled me to doa couple keythings.

Rid me of alI the expensethatcome alongwith those cars like insurance, and fuel ANDthe proceeds from the sales allowed me to buy that cheap car and it gave me cash to payoff someotherdebts I had including my college loans which I thought I would be paying on til 11 was old and gray.

All of this of course increasing my credit score. But the key thing I mentioned above is paying close attention to your credit report and exactly what's on it. There's an informal stat floating around that something like 75% of Americans have errors on their credit report.

Think about that, millions of people in this country are losing $1,000's because they have lowerthan normal credit scores and their interest rates are too high! So if you have the cash, or you can borrow it temporarily, pay off you debts in full and it will do wonders foryourscore.

With all that being said, I want to tel I you about my secret weapon in fighting the battle of the all mighty credit score. Remember how I mentioned above it's a good idea to check your credit report and contest errors? Well let me tell you what I did to contestthose errors...

The fact of the matter is, scanning through a credit report, in fact 3 of them Experian, Equifax, and Transunion is a lot of tedious work. Then once you find the errors you have to construct letters to each of the bureaus contesting each item and showing proof of what you are contesting.

Let others talk about you

Get other people to talk about you and refer to you as an expert. Make sure the people you let back you are professional and well respected themselves.

Interact with people. Answer questions and share your knowledge. Do not alienate yourself by being unapproachable.

Being published online is a good start, but you will also want to get published in print. People tend to take printed materials more seriously than online. Try to get published in a well respected publication.

Establish good relationships with other experts

Surround yourself with other experts. You want to be known as a professional so you need to be associated with other professionals. People will see you with other trusted experts and start to associate you with the title expert.

Associate yourself with your topic

Make sure that when people see you that they immediately think of your expert topic. You will want to do everything you can to get your name associated with your topic.

Write articles

Writing about what you know lets people know that you really do know what you are saying. It shows you are knowledgeable and it is a great way to establish your expertise on a topic.

Write for others

Write articles as a guest expert for other websites and publications. Be a guest writer or even an editorial contributor. When people see that someone asked for your opinion and input they will be more likely to assume you are an expert.

Always keep learning

Always strive to keep learning more. You can never know everything so there is always something to learn. Seek out new ideas and new information that you may not already know about.

Change what others think

Debate is always a good way to show you know what you are talking about. Changing someone else’s opinion is a great way to establish yourself. Even if you do not change their mind your attempt will expose you as someone who is very much in the know.

Think quality over quantity

You want everything you put out there and everything associated with you to be the highest quality. It doesn’t matter if you have ten articles published if five of them are misleading or just wrong.

If you do not know then find out

If you are stumped by a question or approached about something you do not know then find it out. Do not be afraid to admit you need to learn more before giving an answer. Even experts do not know everything. The thing that sets an expert apart, though, is that they are wiling to find out.

Socialize with a wide range of people

The more variety you have in the people you socialize with the better. You need to be exposed to different views and cultures. This will help you to be more rounded and being well rounded is a key aspect of being an expert.

Join clubs and groups

Become a part of groups, clubs and organizations associated with your topic of interest. Not only will you learn, but this will help you with associated yourself with the topic and gaining creditability.

If you are wrong then admit it

When you make a mistake you better admit it. The worst thing you can do is cover it up. You need to just say you messed up and accept it with grace. Then you need to fix it.

Help others

Be gracious and help those who need it. If someone approaches you with a problem then help them figure it out. Experts are givers.

Don’t flaunt your knowledge

The worst thing you can do is be a know it all. Avoid this problem by not offering your point of view unless you are asked or encouraged to do so. Do not flaunt yourself. Be graceful.

Back up what you say with facts

Always use facts to back up what you say. This will help avoid mistakes and will show people that you really are serious about what you say.

Develop your image

Take time to develop a good image. You need to strive to be respected and taken seriously.

Be professional

Always conduct yourself with professionalism. Avoid anything that may tarnish your image and give off a sense you are anything other than a professional.

Never lie. It is a simple matter of good business. Just keep things honest. Do not say something that isn’t true just to get the subscription. It will come back to haunt you.

Have a strategy

Know the point of your page before you start working on it. Make sure you know how you are going to go about getting the sign up.

Have a target market

Know who you are wanting to sign up and tailor the page to them. You may have to do some market research so you can define your target market.

Do not have strange things all over the page. Make it a simple layout that is easy to follow.

Avoid putting links throughout the copy unless they are links to sign up. Links are distractions you do not need.

Make it easy to opt in

Put a mini form on the page so they can sign up quickly. Make it something they can do in a matter of seconds.

Give information about your business

Let them know about you. People are not going to be quick to do anything unless they know more about your company, so tell them about yourself and your business.

Have a privacy policy

Privacy is important and people will not likely sign up for anything unless they know their information is safe. Let them know clearly what your privacy policy is.

Generate interest

Make sure you are always building up the hype. You want the reader to really want to sign up by the time they reach the end and preferably before they reach the end. Make it fun and interesting.

Sometimes it's difficult to tell when you're procrastinating because you're attempting to avoid thinking about it but if you piece together the clues you'll be able to pinpoint your behavior in order to get a handle on it.

Learn How You Procrastinate. Doyou think if you ignore the job at hand it will eventually go away and not bother you? I tried that once with a speeding ticket and nearly lost my license due to procrastination. Trust me when I say that ignoring the problem/job won't cause it to disappear in a puff of smoke.

Do you over-estimate or under-estimate the degree of difficulty in completing the task? Do you scoff at the impact not finishing the task will have on your future? Perhaps you substitute something important for something REALLY important, like putting the dishes away instead of working on that term paper that's due in two hours.

Maybe you take a short break, but let that "short' break turn into an all night event, and therefore put off getting to that taskyou need to finish. You might focus on one part of the job to the exclusion of the remaining task and thereby never finish the entire thing. Once you recognize how you procrastinate, you'll better be able to put a stop to it. Often we don't even realize that we are procrastinating until it's too late and we've missed a deadline.

Make Yourself a Productive Environment. For example, if you work from home, create a home office where there's no TV to distract you from your work. Sure, that baseball game is playing but you don't have time to watch it because you have a deadline with a client. If the TV is there, you'll be tempted to turn it on and then full-blown procrastination occurs. If you are addicted to the Internet, but need to use your laptop or computer to do your work, then try to go somewhere where you won't be able to receive a signal and get online. Removing temptation to do something other than what you NEED to do will help you put a stop to procrastination.

Throw Out Those Procrastination Myths. "I work best under pressure" That's the myth that nearly kept me from graduating from college. Once you believe that you can only work under pressure, you're giving yourself permission to procrastinate. This can snowball and create serious problems for you if you have several deadlines looming

"I can't do this unless I have five uninterrupted hours" This is simply another stalling technique that master procrastinators use for telling themselves it's ok to not start the project because they won't have time to finish it. Hello? If you don't start the taskyou'll never finish it. It's ok to start something and then stop so you can finish it later. Sometimes the simple act of beginning a task will break the cycle of procrastination and allow you to finish your job. I can't do this unless ifs perfect. The problem that most procrastinators have is that we are too hard on ourselves, demanding perfection where perfection is impossible. If you think you can't start your term paper until you have THE perfect opening sentence, then you have once again given yourself permission to put it off.

Break Down the Job. You have a job to do and it looks enormous. You could never, ever complete a job that big, so why even start? If that's your mindset, then you probably won't finish the job. In order to combat this kind of thinking, break the job or task down into small, manageable chunks. Your kitchen is a disaster, it's too much for you to handle. Start on one end and clean off one counter. Voila I You've started. Take baby steps and soon you'll see that the entire task has been completed.

What if they were trapped inside a car that was on fire? What if they were trapped underwater and were drowning? You would want to aid them, wouldn't you? What if they had stopped breathing? Would you just stand around watching them pass away? Or would you do everything you could to administer CPR to them, even if you weren't sure you were doing it correctly?

While the above examples are extreme, sometimes, to an Anxiety sufferer, it absolutely feels like the end of their world. As if they are drowning in a sea of chaos and disparity,unable to pull themselves out.
