I think forum marketing is like anything else. You have to create a schedule and stick to it each day to get subscribers/sales.

I regularly get on average 10 subscribers per day just for spending an hour each day posting on forums in my niche market.

Here's what I do everyday in one of my niche markets:

1. Create a list of 5 high trafficked forums (you can search for these by doing a keyword run through on Google)

3. Spend an hour a day posting at these forums

Here are some tips for posting effectively on forums to receive clickthroughs to your website:

Be informative and interesting. Don't spam the forums with one-liner posts as you'll be banned pretty quickly or viewed as merely an advertiser. Become seen as a helpful information provider

Be positive. People naturally gravitate to positive people, so don't be negative in your posts. Positive sounding posts often get better results.

Don't get involved in petty arguments on forums. They are a waste of time and energy, so don't be involved in them!

This strategy gets me roughly about 10 subscribers every day, which is a pretty cool average of 300 subscribers per month!

1. Build A Big, Targeted Friends List

Search for people who have related interests to your business and may become potential customers. This is easy to do with the search parameters you can set on Facebook and MySpace. Then simply start adding people to your friends list!

2. Create An Interesting Blog

Create a blog at MySpace and regularly post to it. Post up videos on it, stories and generally post quality information on the topic you work with. You will develop a rabid following for your blog in no time and your friends will be looking forward to your every posting! Remember I discussed the problem about the duplication content thing? Well if you submitted your article to the 8 major directories I suggested, I would then wait for about 2 months after they are indexed before I put the articles on my own website.

I haven’t really tested this duplication content thing in depth but to be on the safe side, I won’t risk the chance of my main site being penalized for having duplicate content even if the content is written by me.

An alternative way is to rewrite your articles putting in your affiliate links and then place them on your own website. If you have enough time then you can take this rewriting approach.

However, before re-writing an article, I will mention the article I’ve written and direct people to read the article at Ezine Articles to increase the counter of “Most Viewed”.

For my promotional articles which I’ve submitted to a lot of places, I will place it on my secondary website and direct my visitors to read the articles there. Remember that the secondary website is there as a backup to generate more leads for you. If the secondary website is penalized then not all is lost as you still have your main website.

Easy Way # 4 – Implement a Thank You Card Program Throughout Your Company

Let me ask you something. When was the last time you received a thank you card for something…anything? If you’re like most people I speak to, it’s been a while. When you did get the card though, how did it make you feel? Pretty good I bet.

My point? Sending thank you cards will get you noticed because nobody else does it. And you can bet that not only will it make the person receiving the card feel great, but guess who they will recommend when you product or service is needed? YOU!

There is always a reason to thank someone for something. Encourage every person or department to send thank you cards…from the shipping clerk to the cashier. Your business will reap the benefits.

In many cases, you just ask to be an affiliate for them and they are happy to accept with no questions asked. However, some are very fussy and take a bit of persuasion. If you are applying through Commission Junction, then they may look at your site first before manually accepting it.

In your account settings on Commission Junction, there is an area where you list your web sites. If for example you want to sell electronic goods such as TVs then you should create a web page of how your site will look. The problem is how to obtain affiliate links on your site to show other affiliates if you haven’t yet been accepted into any scheme. Here’s what I do.

Say your page is reviewing a TV and you want to list 3 or more different shops / vendors that sell that TV so the visitor can compare prices and buy the cheapest option. In each case, where you have your picture and text saying “click here to check price”, simply use a standard link to that product on their web site as if you already are an affiliate for them.

People (from the affiliate you are trying to win) checking your site probably won’t even notice that it isn’t an affiliate link o r wouldn’t care, they are more interested in how the site is going to look and whether it ties in with their ideals.

What I have also done in the past which takes a bit more work but can be worth it is design a separate page for each affiliate deal you are trying to win. So if I was trying to win approval from Best Buys, and I’m reviewing a TV, I would have their link at the top and be particularly complementary about their service over the others. Of course, once you’ve won the ‘d eal’, you can then do what you want.
